Jarrett Hurd’s “hometown” super welterweight title defense against Julian Williams is official. ESPN has revealed that the fight will take place on May 11th in Fairfax, Virginia’s EagleBank Arena and headline a PBC card on Fox. Fairfax sits a mere 30 miles from Hurd’s native Accokeek, Maryland.

Other fights on the card include Mario Barrios vs. Jose Velasco and Matt Korobov vs. Immanuwel Aleem.

The bout will be Hurd’s (23-0, 16 KO) second defense as unified IBF/WBA “super” champion. He stopped Tony Harrison for the vacant IBF belt in 2017, successfully defended it against Austin Trout, then lifted the WBA strap from Erislandy Lara in 2018’s Fight of the Year. He was last seen demolishing Jason Welborn on the Wilder-Fury undercard.

Williams (26-1-1, 16 KO) was a hot commodity heading into his 2016 title shot against Jermall Charlo, but succumbed to his foe’s power in the fifth round. He’s 4-0 since, the most notable victory a decision over Ishe Smith. He is also Hurd’s IBF mandatory challenger.
