Kubrat Pulev and Jessie Magdaleno return to action tonight in Costa Mesa, California, and we’ll be here with live coverage.
Prelim fights will stream live at 6:30 pm ET on ESPN+, with the main card starting at 10 pm ET on ESPN.
Pulev (26-1, 13 KO) is still a contender at heavyweight, and is the current IBF mandatory challenger, meaning he’s ostensibly in line for a fight with Anthony Joshua. The 37-year-old Bulgarian last fought in October, beating Hughie Fury in an eliminator, and has since signed with Top Rank.
He’ll face Bogdan Dinu (18-1, 14 KO), a Romanian who had fought his entire career at home and in Quebec, then got the call to face Jarrell Miller in November. It didn’t go well, as Miller knocked him out in the fourth round. Being honest, not much more is expected tonight.
Magdaleno (25-1, 18 KO) is a former super bantamweight titleholder moving up to featherweight, coming off of a title loss to Isaac Dogboe in April 2018. He’ll face another former super bantamweight titlist, veteran Rico Ramos (30-5, 14 KO). Both fights are set for 10 rounds.
Here’s what will air on ESPN+ starting at 6:30 pm ET:
- Maxim Dadashev (12-0, 10 KO) vs Ricky Sismundo (35-12-3, 17 KO), junior welterweights, 10 rounds

ROUND BY ROUND
KUBRAT PULEV vs BOGDAN DINU
Round 1: Dinu jabs to the body. Pulev tries to jab upstairs but eats one in return from Dinu. Another jab to the body lands for Dinu. Clubbing right hand partially lands for Pulev. Pulev gets his next right hook blocked. Jab lands for Pulev. Pulev misses on a one-two and then steps forward behind two more jabs that Dinu parries. Dinu throws a series of probing jabs that don’t make much of an impact on Pulev. Dinu ducks a couple of punches from Pulev to end the round. I think Dinu’s jab edged him the round. Dinu 10-9.
Round 2: Pulev leads with a stiff jab but it doesn’t land clean. Right hand to the body lands for Dinu. Pulev presses forward and then unloads an overhand right that Dinu is able to ride along the ropes. Both of the fighters get tangled and Dinu hits the deck. Pulev starts pushing his jab out the again now throws it to the body. Two hooks come from Pulev but Dinu is able to block both of them. Combination from Dinu gets block by Pulev this time. Pulev starts pressing forward now looking to land a big right hand. Right hook from Pulev partially lands. Dinu tries his own right hand that Pulev blocks. Two hooks to the body land for Dinu. Another right hand to the body lands for Dinu who then gets back to his jab. I think Dinu edged this round too. Dinu 10-9.
Round 4: More jabs come from Pulev to start the round. Dinu tries to turn the table s and charges forward behind a barrage of punches and Pulev is bleeding badly from his left eye! Dinu throws a long flurry of punches as Pulev is a bloody mess — I can’t tell if the cut came from a punch or a head clash but it would seem to be a head clash based on how big the cut is. Pulev tries to throw some right hands but can’t land anything clean. Stiff jab lands for Dinu. Pulev throws a huge right hand that falls short at the bell. Dinu 10-9, 39-37.
Round 5: Doctor literally steps into the ring at the beginning of the round to check out Pulev’s cut, he rules him good to continue. It looks like the cut was ruled as the result of a punch so if this fight is stopped it will be a TKO for Dinu. Replay shows the big gash definitely came from a clean right cross from Dinu. Jab lands for Dinu. Pulev pushes Dinu down. Pulev steps in and throws some big shots as Dinu might be needing to take this round off after all the punches he threw in the last round. Pulev 10-9.
Round 6: Pulev comes out on the attack, throwing jabs and right hands. Right hand misses from Dinu and Pulev comes back and lands his. Pulev chasing Dinu around the ring and looking to land a fight-ending shot. Counter jab lands for Dinu. Pulev flurries with Dinu along the ropes and Dinu just covers up. Jab lands for Pulev at the end of the round. Pulev 10-9, 57-57.
Round 7: Pulev loads up on a right hand to start the round but doesn’t find the mark. More right hands come from Pulev as he tries to pummel Dinu in the corner. He eventually chops Dinu down in the corner! Pulev landed a punch in the back of the head with Dinu on the canvas but it’s ruled an accidental foul. If Dinu can’t continue referee says it’ll go to the scorecards. The referee said he’s giving Dinu a couple minutes. The referee takes a point from Pulev for the foul. We’re back in action and Pulev comes back on the hunt. Right hand lands for Pulev and the second puts Dinu down again! Dinu get’s up at the 9 1⁄2 count and Pulev loads up on more jabs and right hands. Pulev continues to throw right hands and Dinu collapses again. This time the referee stops it immediately. Pulev TKO-7.
JESSIE MAGDALENO vs RICO RAMOS
Round 1: Magdaleno catches Ramos right out the gate with a lead right hook and the follows it up with a flurry of punches that catch Ramos unprepared. Ramos knows he’s in a real fight already. Both fighters take each other’s measure at center ring, flicking a number of jabs before Magdaleno is able to land a nice counter. Magdaleno misses on a left hook as he tries to leap in with a big shot. Now Magdaleno lands a shot with his left hand to the body from his southpaw stance. Magdaleno 10-9.

Ramos leads with a double left hand that doesn’t quite find the mark. Left hand lands for Magdaleno this time, though! Ramos hasn’t really been able to land a good shot on Magdaleno thus far in the fight. Magdaleno jabs to the body as Ramos remains on the defensive. Magdaleno 10-9, 20-18.
Round 3: Magdaleno leads with a number of jabs that aren’t designed to land as much as to establish the range. Right hook clips Ramos upstairs. Magdaleno lands a straight left hand this time, then a jab to the body. Ramos looks almost scared to come out from behind his high guard. Clean left hand lands for Magdaleno to the head. Ramos rakes a right hook to the body just before the end of the round. Ramos isn’t fighting. Magdaleno 10-9.
Round 4: Ramos parries a series of jabs that come from Magdaleno. Now Magdaleno turns those jabs into hooks to the body and he lands well. Ramos is just content to stand behind a high guard and in an attempt to keep from taking too many big shots, which is preventing any sustained action. Straight left to the body lands for Magdaleno. Ramos just looks uninspired in the ring. Another hard left hand lands downstairs for Magdaleno. Magdaleno 10-9, 40-36.
Round 5: Both fighters trade jabs at center ring but neither make contact. Now Magdaleno lands a jab to the body, then another. Hard left hook lands to the body for Magdaleno. Another left lands downstairs for Magdaleno. Ramos continues to posture a lot but he’s scarely throwing a punch, and when he does it’s half-hearted. Magdaleno lands another left hand to the body and then a stiff jab to the head. Magdaleno 10-9.
Round 6: Both fighters measure with their jabs in the middle of the ring and then Magdaleno throws a jab to the body that misses, then lands on a second attempt. Ramos paws with some jabs as he back Magdaleno to the corner and then throws a helpless combination that Magdaleno easily defends. Straight left to the body lands for Magdaleno. Now Magdaleno lands a jab to the body and follows it up with another straight left downstairs. Magdaleno 10-9, 60-54.
Round 7: Ramos throws a short uppercut to the body on the inside and then takes a few hard hooks from Magdaleno in return. Two right hooks land for Magdaleno during a clinch. Straight right lands for Ramos. Now Magdaleno lands another hard left to the body. Short left hook glances off Ramos’ head. Ramos steps right into a straight shot from Magdaleno before he falls into another clinch. Lead left hand lands for Magdaleno this time as he uses some lateral movement on the outside of the ring. Magdaleno 10-9.
Round 8: Magdaleno touches with several jabs as Ramos finds a rare instance to land a counter right hand. Straight left to the body lands again for Magdaleno. Magdaleno skips along the ropes and winds up in a clinch with Ramos but still finds some space to land a couple of body shots on the inside. Magdaleno lands another left hand to the body and I think everyone’s ready for this fight to end. Magdaleno 10-9, 80-72.
Round 9: Magdaleno leads with a jab to the head and body. Ramos steps forward and actually throws a combination. Ramos throws another combination that backs Magdaleno to the ropes. Ramos’ trainer can be heard urging him to throw more punches and keep working. Ramos steps forward again and partially lands a right hand. Jab lands for Ramos but the fighters immediately fall into a clinch. Ramos flurries again with Magdaleno on the ropes. Magdaleno might be a little tired. Ramos 10-9.
Round 10: Ramos comes out in an aggressive stance but Magdaleno partially lands a check hook. Now Magdaleno lands a straight left to the body again. Check hook lands again for Magdaleno. Ramos throws a flurry of arm punches that don’t have much sting on them, but at least he’s now throwing. Magdaleno tries to load up on a left to the body but can’t make clean contact. Another right hook lands clean for Magdaleno upstairs. Two more hooks land for Magdaleno just before the bell. Magdaleno 10-9. I’ve got it 99-91 for Magdaleno.
