Unified junior middleweight titleholder Jarrett Hurd (23-0, 16 KOs) will be back in action on FOX come May 11th, officially taking on Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams (26-1-1, 16 KOs) at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA with his world titles on the line. You can catch the full press conference announcing the fight above thanks to our friends at Fight Hub TV.
Williams, 28, enters this fight coming off a knockout win over Francisco Javier Castro last December, his fourth straight win since getting stopped by Jermall Charlo in late 2016. He was up first to the podium and offered these thoughts on this next world title opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to a really exciting fight,” Williams began. “He’s a really good fighter, good strong fighter, and I’m looking forward to a good crowd — where is it? Fairfax or something like that? And I’m excited...I’m looking forward to winning on May 11th and making my dreams come true. So that’s it, really. I don’t really got nothing else to say...”
Hurd, 28, enters this fight coming off a stoppage win over Jason Welborn last December, one bout removed from his rousing fight with Erislandy Lara this time last year. Hurd had this to say on the fight:
“I’m happy to be back home,” Hurd said. “...these guys are doing a wonderful job with me. Everything I asked of them, they made it happen. They’ve been watching, that’s what makes this an even more dangerous fight because when you study your opponents the way I also do, it doesn’t reply to skill, it doesn’t rely who’s faster, who has the most power — it’s a thinking man’s game. And I know they’re coming in with a game plan...
“This is gonna be a great fight, this is gonna be something that you guys must tune into. Everyone knows that a ‘Swift’ Jarrett Hurd fight is always gonna be electrifying, it’s always going to be toe-to-toe action, and I’m definitely gonna bring it...”
