In what’s honestly a pretty nice change of pace, the April 20th PBC on FOX card will begin at 8:00 PM Eastern, with the major undercard bouts airing after the main event on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes. The headlining bout pits young Dominican super welterweight Jeison Rosario against knockout artist Jorge Cota, while Alfredo Angulo, Karlos Balderas, and Omar Juarez round out the rest.
And for those confused about the headline: yes, “postliminary” is a word, so “postlim” is a grammatically correct abbreviation.
The 23-year-old Rosario (18-1, 13 KO) is 6-0-1 since a 2017 knockout loss to Nathaniel Gallimore, including wins over PBC regulars Justin DeLoach, Jamontay Clark, and Mark Anthony Hernandez. Cota (28-2, 25 KO) has won 12 of his last 13, beating Yudel Jhonson but falling to Erickson Lubin.
Angulo (24-7, 20 KO), a year removed from a split decision loss to Sergio Mora, fights Juan Ubaldo Cabrera (24-2, 16 KO), whose career highlights include one-sided losses to Decarlo Perez and the aforementioned Lubin. 2016 Olympian Karlos Balderas (7-0, 6 KO) faces Pedro Vicente (6-2,2 KO) in what’s called a “six or eight round bout” in the official press release and amateur star Omar Juarez (2-0, 1 KO) makes a two-month turnaround opposite Luis Gerardo Perez Salas (5-2, 1 KO).
The main card opens with Yonfrez Parejo vs. Brandon Figueroa and continues with Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Alexander Dimitrenko.
