After missing weight earlier today, Shawn Porter had two hours to lose 1.8 pounds or be stripped of his WBC welterweight title for tomorrow night’s PBC on FOX main event against Yordenis Ugas.
Porter (29-2-1, 17 KO) had to strip naked and cut his hair to get there, according to Heidi Androl, but the titleholder made it, checking in at 146.8 pounds, just under the 147-pound limit.
The 31-year-old Porter will be making the first defense of the WBC title that he won last September over Danny Garcia, facing Cuba’s Ugas (23-3-1, 11 KO), his mandatory challenger. Ugas has won eight straight fights dating back to 2016.
The show will also feature another welterweight bout, between Abel Ramos (23-3-2, 18 KO) and Francisco Santana (25-6-1, 12 KO), as well as a heavyweight crossroads fight between Efe Ajagba (8-0, 7 KO) and Amir Mansour (23-3-1, 16 KO). Two fights will also air on FS1 before the show shifts to FOX, with bantamweights Damien Vazquez (14-0, 7 KO) and Juan Carlos Payano (20-2, 9 KO) doing battle, plus welterweight prospect Eimantas Stanionis (7-0, 5 KO) facing Sammy Figueroa (11-1, 4 KO).
