In this interview caught by Fight Hub TV, Top Rank prospect Shakur Stevenson (10-0, 6 KOs) talks his fight this weekend against Christopher Diaz at Madison Square Garden on the Crawford-Khan undercard. Check it out...
Stevenson on his opponent, Diaz, thinking he’s biting off more than he can chew:
“I mean, Christopher Diaz doing a lot of talking and he gotta back up everything that he say when we fight. So, that’s all I gotta say on that.”
On how he would characterize his progression as a fighter to this point:
“I feel like I’ve been doing what I’m supposed to do and I’ve been getting better and better each fight. My last fight I kinda showed everybody that I can fight close range and on the inside. So I feel like now I’m about to show a whole different part of my game and everybody gotta wait and see.”
On how he rates himself as a prospect:
“I don’t remember what I said before but I know I said I’m the top dog [of] all the youngins coming up. I can’t wait to show everybody once again that I’m the best up-and-coming fighter in boxing.”
On what if feels like fighting at Madison Square Garden:
“I actually fought in the big room before so I fought at Madison Square Garden twice and I’m used to it now. So I don’t think it’s gonna be no different...I feel like I’ve put in a lot of work for this fight and I’m prepared for whatever he brings so fuck the butterflies, I’m ready.”
On his prediction for the fight:
“I don’t know the prediction, I don’t got no prediction, but I’ma win.”
