Andy Ruiz Jr says he’d be ready to face Anthony Joshua on June 1

Andy Ruiz Jr fights on Saturday, but says he’s opening to turning right back around and facing Anthony Joshua.

Heavyweight contender Andy Ruiz Jr (31-1, 20 KO) is set to face veteran Alexander Dimitrenko (41-4, 26 KO) on this Saturday’s PBC on FOX card, headlined by Danny Garcia vs Adrian Granados, and says that if things go well, he’d be ready to come back on June 1 and face Anthony Joshua, who looks like he’s in need of a new opponent.

On Jarrell Miller’s failed drug test

“That’s a big disappointment. Hopefully they don’t (cancel) the fight, but I’m pretty sure they probably did. If the fight’s off and everything goes good (on Saturday), I’ll be ready for June 1 after April 20.”

On facing Joshua being realistic

“I don’t know. Anything could happen, boxing’s crazy. But I’ll be ready. ... I’d have to call the boss man Al Haymon and Tom Brown, see what happens. But first I gotta get through Alexander on April 20.”

On Miller accusing Joshua of PEDs and failing the test

“Like I said, it’s a disappointment. I don’t know if he didn’t have confidence in himself, that he needed to do all that stuff. Stuff happens, you know.”

On whether or not Miller should be banned

“I don’t think he should be banned or anything like that. I think he should just — he learned his lesson, you know. He lost a good money bout, but I’m pretty sure he’ll get another title shot.”

On Hearn’s list of potential opponents

“I already saw Joshua and Whyte fight, I’d like to see (Luis) Ortiz get the title shot. He’s a good guy, humble guy. ... (Ortiz) could (give Joshua problems), but in my eyes, I think Joshua would win the fight.”
