Adrian Granados (20-6-2, 14 KO) has another big opportunity on Saturday, facing Danny Garcia (34-2, 20 KO) in the PBC on FOX main event.
He spoke about that fight and his pick for Crawford-Khan.
On cutting weight to 147
“I’ve fought at welterweight a lot, there’s a lot of fights that I had to accept the challenge and move up, so now my body’s getting there, too. It’s getting harder to make this weight. A lot of people have me as just a 140-pounder, that I’m too small. A lot of people are saying that I’m gonna get knocked out in this fight. It kinda pumps me up to go harder. ... It’s more being tired of the diet, watching how much liquid you intake and everything. But it’s part of the game and all of us fighters, it’s the one thing we hate about it.”
On people thinking Garcia will KO him
“It makes me laugh. A lot of people don’t realize, I’ve been in there with big punchers, too. I’ve been in there with the best of them and nobody’s laid me out. I don’t plan on laying down this Saturday. Don’t be surprised if Adrian Granados stops Danny Garcia.”
On whether he can win on the cards
“With the game plan I have and the fight I’m gonna bring, I’m looking for a dominant performance where they have to give me the decision. ... I’m just gonna out-fight him.”
On Crawford vs Khan
“It’s a great fight. Shoutout to Bud Crawford, a friend of mine. I think Amir Khan brings a lot of action to the fight. I think he’s gonna make it competitive, but I’ve got Bud winning that fight. ... I got Bud by stoppage. Terence is a great fighter. Amir is, too, not taking anything away from him, but he’s been knocked out a few times already. I’m gonna pray for him that nothing bad happens to him, but I’ve got Bud winning by stoppage.”
On what beating Garcia would mean
“It would be the hugest win of my career. It opens up plenty of doors. That’s why I’m very excited and very determined to get this win.”
