Jarrell Miller on three failed drug tests: ‘I messed up’

Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller was supposed to face WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua on June 1 at Madison Square Garden.

Three days ago, it was reported that he had failed a VADA drug test, coming up positive for GW1516. New York immediately denied him a license to fight, and promoter Eddie Hearn was already searching for a replacement opponent.

Yesterday, he denied wrongdoing, saying, “I don’t need a banned substance” in a post that has since been deleted from social media.

Today, it was revealed that he’d failed a second drug test for HGH — and then a third for GW1516 and EPO.

In the wake of these reports, Miller took to Instagram to say he “messed up” and “made a bad call.”

“This is your boy ‘Big Baby’ Miller here. A lot can be said right now, I’m gonna get straight to the point. I messed up. I messed up. I made a bad call. There’s a lot of ways to handle a situation, I handled it wrongly. I’m paying the price for it. I’m missing out on a big opportunity.

“I’m hurting on the inside. My heart is bleeding right now. I hurt my family, my friends, my team, my supporters. I’m gonna own up to it, I’m gonna deal with it, I’m gonna correct it, and I’m gonna come back better. I’m humbled by the experience, to understand how to handle certain things. I’m gonna leave it at that. I love you guys and I appreciate you guys out there. Fighters, we go through a lot. I don’t wanna make a bad name for ourselves. It’s time to do right and get right.”

Miller (23-0-1, 20 KO) was set to make a career-best (by far) payday and have a shot at three of the four world heavyweight titles at Madison Square Garden against one of the biggest names in boxing. Instead, he’s now going to have to wait and see where his career goes from here. To say he blew this one would be putting it extremely lightly.
