During a press conference to announce his signing of Joe Joyce, Frank Warren took the opportunity to make a couple additional statements. For one, Daniel Dubois could need a new opponent this Saturday, as Ghana’s Richard Lartey has run into visa issues. For two, Warren claims that Bob Arum told him that Gilberto Ramirez will be vacating his WBO super middleweight title due to being unable to make the weight.

Here’s the press conference; the bit about Ramirez comes at around the 3:00 mark.

One of Warren’s fighters, Billy Joe Saunders, is booked to face Shefat Isufi for the interim version of that belt on May 18th, with Joyce serving as part of the undercard. It was originally announced as a full title fight, but Ramirez elected to keep the title rather than commit to a full-time move to 175 pounds. After a dominant performance against Tommy Karpency, it looks as though Ramirez won’t be coming back down.
