Earlier today there was major concern about Ghana’s Richard Lartey having visa issues ahead of Saturday’s fight in London against heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois, but the issues have been worked out, and the main event for the show is still on.
Dubois vs Lartey will headline a show that streams live at 3 pm ET on ESPN+ in the United States, and airs on BT Sport in the United Kingdom.
The 21-year-old Dubois (10-0, 9 KO) is more newsworthy this week for what’s coming in his career, which is an ordered British title fight with Joe Joyce, who just signed a co-promotional deal with Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren. Joyce, 33, is scheduled to fight on May 18, another ESPN+ card with Billy Joe Saunders vs Shefat Isufi in the main event from Stevenage.
If Dubois and Joyce get through their next fights without issue, the belief/hope is they’ll square off in July.
Saturday’s ESPN+ card also features Lerrone Richards vs Tommy Langford for the Commonwealth super middleweight title, and a slew of fighters taking what can be described (charitably, perhaps) as tune-up bouts, including junior welterweight Jack Catterall, super featherweight Archie Sharp, and super flyweight Sunny Edwards.
