Ajagba vs Wallisch results: Efe Ajagba stops Michael Wallisch in second round

Efe Ajagba is still unbeaten, scoring another early stoppage win on Showtime.

Heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba kept the hype train rolling tonight, stopping Germany’s Michael Wallisch in the second round in tonight’s Showtime opener.

Our live coverage of Easter vs Barthelemy continues here!

Ajagba (10-0, 9 KO) threw a ton of punches in the opening round, with Wallisch (19-2, 12 KO) looking to get inside and crowd the power-punching Nigerian. He did get there, but doing effective work once there proved a bit more difficult.

In the second, Ajagba hammered Wallisch down to a knee, and then landed a shot with Wallisch on the canvas. Referee Tony Weeks counted the knockdown and gave Wallisch time to recover, but Wallisch didn’t take much.

When the action resumed, Ajagba unloaded and landed enough shots without Wallisch responding that Weeks stepped in to stop the fight at 1:40 of the second round.

Ajagba, 25, has still only been past the second round once in his pro career, and it’s probably time to purposely try to find someone who has a real hope of taking him deeper. He’s still miles off from fighting the world class guys, but there are plenty of people out there who might be able to at least force him to see the bell to begin round three, even if they aren’t really a threat to actually beat him.
