Canelo Alvarez is set to face Daniel Jacobs this Saturday night on DAZN, and after yesterday’s Grand Arrivals, he spoke with media further about the fight.

He was asked if he feels that Jacobs (35-2, 29 KO) is a a better fighter than old foe Gennady Golovkin.

“Technically, he’s a much better fighter. His abilities are much better,” Canelo said through a translator.

Now, Canelo may just be selling the fight — it’s not pay-per-view like usual, but they’re definitely trying to drive DAZN subscriptions — but Alvarez has been fairly consistent in praising Jacobs’ technical abilities, and those abilities are what some feel give Jacobs the legit shot at the upset on Saturday. His footwork in particular has been noted by many.

For what it’s worth, Alvarez fought to a debated draw and a majority decision win in two fights with Golovkin in 2017 and 2018, and Golovkin narrowly beat Jacobs by decision in 2017.
