Deontay Wilder: This fight is going to be a disaster for Dominic Breazeale

Wilder says he’s taking this fight personally, which only makes him that much more dangerous.

It’s no secret that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs) and mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale (20-1, 18 KOs) don’t particularly like each other — and if you didn’t know you can catch-up on the backstory with the nasty things said between the fighters here. So with their May 18th fight now just around the corner, it’s only to be expected that Wilder is getting more animated, promising carnage.

“When I take a fight personal, something magical is going to happen,” Wilder said. “I’ve been up at 2:00 AM, hitting the heavy bag for 12 rounds straight. And still breathing smoothly. This is going to be a disaster for Breazeale.

“Enjoy this one, because it’s going to be a massacre. May 18 will be a beautiful day for me. A beautiful day to see what I’m planning to do for the sport of boxing.”

Wilder continues to say that he’s looking forward to getting his mandatory out of the way, and that until he’s proven wrong in the ring he knows he’s still the best heavyweight on the planet. However, the fight the fans are really waiting on — the one against Anthony Joshua for all the marbles — doesn’t even appear to be on the horizon at this point.

That’s obviously a shame and whatnot, but a good ol’ fashion grudge match just might be the next best thing. For now just expect for Wilder to ramp-up his banter, which should only get more violent, from here until fight time.
