Sullivan Barrera changes course, replaces Eleider Alvarez against Jesse Hart

Barrera was booked to face Michael Seals the prior week

Forget what I said.

With Eleider Alvarez out of commission, recent Top Rank signee Sullivan Barrera has reportedly stepped in to replace him against Jesse Hart on the June 15th Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz card.

Barrera (22-2, 14 KO) was originally slated to fight Michael Seals on the June 8th card now headlined by Oscar Valdez vs. Jason Sanchez, and he’s not wrong about the difference in opponent. Where Seals is an unremarkable action fighter whose greatest accomplishment was an entertaining losing effort against Edwin Rodriguez, Hart (25-2, 22 KO) was a legitimate top super middleweight with the power to damage the knockdown-prone Cuban.

This fight isn’t enough to turn Fury-Schwarz into what could reasonably be called a good show, especially since the rest of the undercard doesn’t appear to exist at the moment, but it’s still a damn fine matchup and a quality move by Top Rank. Respect to Barrera for taking the tougher opponent on a month’s notice.
