Tevin Farmer has stated matter-of-factly that he will not give Joseph Diaz Jr a shot at the IBF super featherweight title, but Diaz isn’t giving up on it so easily.
Quick catch-up if you’ve missed all this stuff: during Canelo-Jacobs fight week in Vegas, Farmer confronted Diaz after the undercard press conference that Thursday, and the two spoke in interviews after.
Farmer said he’d make Diaz “starve,” while Diaz said at the time that if that was Farmer’s attitude, then he’d just ignore him.
But Diaz continues to taunt Farmer via social media:
Tevin farmers face all night when we fight. Be punching snots out his nose all night. #FarmerDiaz #SMACKTALKGETSOCKED hahahahah THE COMEUP pic.twitter.com/HXNN5KQsTZ

So yeah, Diaz (29-1, 15 KO) isn’t ignoring Farmer (29-4-1, 6 KO) after all.
It seems like a fight that really should get made by the end of this year. There’s some heat there, and promoters for both guys work with DAZN, Farmer with Eddie Hearn and JoJo Diaz with Golden Boy.
But first, Farmer will have to face IBF mandatory challenger Guillaume Frenois, so unless he applied for and got permission to make a voluntary defense — and there’s no reason right now to think he will — it definitely won’t be next. Farmer also wants to do a unification with WBC titleholder Miguel Berchelt by the end of 2019.
