Heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev (27-1, 14 KOs) found himself in hot water several weeks back when the fighter planted an awkward kiss on reporter during an interview. Pulev downplayed the firestorm by saying that he was friends with the woman and it was all much ado about nothing, but obviously the female reporter didn’t exactly feel that way — hiring a high powered attorney to file a lawsuit against Pulev.

But as for boxing’s role in this whole mess, the California State Athletic Commission — who governed Pulev’s last fight — has ordered Pulev to pay a $2,500 fine as well as complete a sexual harassment training course before they’ll even consider lifting his suspension. ESPN reports that they’ll allow Pulev to apply to have his boxing license reinstated should he meet their conditions by July 22nd, although he supposedly won’t be allow to fight anywhere in North America until doing so.

Pulev would issue an apology to the reporter during yesterday’s hearing while a local radio station stated he fighter will receive a lifetime ban for any future infractions of this kind.
