Michael Hunter has finally received an opponent for the May 25th DAZN card formerly headlined by Oleksandr Usyk vs. Carlos Takam. “The Bounty” will face UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado in Oxon Hill ahead of the Devin Haney-Antonio Moran main event.

Maldonado (26-2, 25 KO) entered the Octagon with a 22-0 boxing record composed entirely of bottom-of-the-barrel opposition in his native Brazil. Known for his relentless body attack and stupidly durable chin, “The Iron Hillbilly” is just 3-6 in his last nine MMA bouts. While still competing there, he made his return to boxing in 2016 after six years away, KOing four more Brazilian stiffs before losing widely to Oscar Rivas and Oleksandr Teslenko.

He was supposed to fight Nathan Gorman in March before withdrawing.

Maldonado’s record is 100% padded and even his vaunted punch resistance has begun to wane in recent years. He’s physically best suited to cruiserweight, too, giving him no conceivable advantages over Hunter (16-1, 11 KO).

The rest of the card includes Jessica McCaskill (6-2, 3 KO) facing Anahi Esther Sanchez (19-3, 11 KO) in a super lightweight unification match and top heavyweight prospect Filip Hrgovic (7-0, 5 KO) taking on renowned testicle-wrecker Gregory Corbin (15-1, 9 KO).
