European lightweight champion Francesco Patera will defend against Paul Hyland Jr on Friday, June 28, live from Milan on DAZN in the US.

Patera (21-3, 7 KO) is a two-time European champion at 135, first beating Edis Tatli in May 2017 by split decision. Tatli regained the title in a rematch seven months later. Patera gained the title for a second time last October, going to Newcastle, England, to beat Lewis Ritson for the vacant belt. It was a clear win for Patera, although one judge managed to score it for Ritson.

Patera, 26, made a successful defense on Feb. 16 in Belgium, beating Marvin Petit by decision.

Hyland (20-1, 7 KO) challenged the aforementioned Ritson for the British lightweight title in June 2018 and was absolutely blitzed, dropped three times and stopped in the opening round. He’s won a pair of club-level fights since then.

The card will be headlined locally by an Italian super middleweight showdown between Daniele Scardina (16-0, 14 KO) and Alessandro Goddi (35-4-1, 17 KO), and will also feature a welterweight fight between Dario Morello (14-0, 2 KO) and veteran Steve Jamoye (26-7-2, 5 KO).
