WEIGH-IN RESULTS

  • Deontay Wilder 223¼ vs Dominic Breazeale 255¼
  • Gary Russell Jr 125¾ vs Kiko Martinez 124½
  • Juan Heraldez 140½ vs Argenis Mendez 140¾

Today at 1:30 pm ET from Brooklyn, Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale will hit the scales for tomorrow night’s Showtime Championship Boxing main event, which will be for Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title.

Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KO) and Breazeale (20-1, 18 KO) don’t have to make weight, of course, as they’re heavyweights, they can weigh whatever they please, but it’s been interesting in recent fights to see Wilder get even leaner, coming in at 226¼, 222, 220¾, 214¾, and 212½ in his last five, in that order. That 212½ was his lowest weight since his pro debut way back in 2008.

Breazeale generally weighs between 255 and 260, so expect something in that range, maybe a hair lower. Either way he’ll have the weight advantage on Saturday, if it’s an advantage.

The co-feature will see Gary Russell Jr (29-1, 17 KO) defend the WBC featherweight title against Kiko Martinez (39-8-2, 28 KO), and the Showtime opener is a 135-pound fight between Juan Heraldez (16-0, 10 KO) and Argenis Mendez (25-5-2, 12 KO).

There will also be live streaming prelim fights tomorrow starting at 6:30 pm ET, featuring Robert Alfonso vs Iago Kiladze (heavyweights), Richardson Hitchins vs Alejandro Munera (junior welterweights), and Gary Antuanne Russell vs Marcos Mojica (junior welterweights).

Bad Left Hook will have live coverage of Wilder vs Breazeale this Saturday, May 18, at 9:00 pm ET on Showtime
