The July 20th Manny Pacquiao-Keith Thurman card continues to develop, and at least one of the new fights should be better than Caleb Plant vs. Mike Lee. ESPN Deportes reports that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. plans to make his return to the ring on the card alongside Luis Nery, whom Zanfer Promotions hopes to pit against WBC bantamweight champ Nordine Oubaali.

Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KO) has not fought since laying an egg against Canelo Alvarez in 2017. At the time, he was on a two-fight winning streak following an even eggier stoppage loss to Andrzej Fonfara.

Taking all bets on the weight class.

Nery (29-0, 23 KO) vs. Oubaali (15-0, 11 KO) is good stuff if it comes together, though; Nery is Oubaali’s #1 contender, so there shouldn’t be any issues on that front unless the Frenchman pushes for a voluntary defense. Though appropriately reviled on BLH for being The Worst (tm), Nery’s a brutally effective and entertaining fighter who beat the stuffing out of McJoe Arroyo in March for his 10th consecutive finish. Oubaali. meanwhile, won Nery’s former title in January with a decision over former Olympic foe Rau’shee Warren.
