Adonis Stevenson holding conversations, walking, spending weekends at home

Some good news a few months after the last update. Promoter Yvon Michel says that Adonis Stevenson, who suffered a brain injury in his knockout loss to Oleksandr Gvozdyk in December, is making excellent strides in his recovery, reportedly conversing as normal, spending weekends at home, and walking on his own.

Stevenson (29-2-1, 24 KO) underwent a second surgery in February to replace the part of his skull removed in the initial operation.

Not every boxing casualty has been so lucky; the family of Prichard Colon had their negligence lawsuits against Headbangers and DiBella Entertainment dismissed yesterday, as the judge ruled that the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, not the promoters, was responsible for ensuring the ringside staff were adequately trained. That said, Colon is no longer bedridden, instead using a wheelchair.

Progress is progress.

This sport isn’t much for happy endings, but we might just get a couple.
