Friday, May 10
FS2, 12:30 pm ET, Hurd-Williams weigh-in. Some guys will take off their clothes and some other guys in clothes will tell us how much they weigh at the moment. BLH will have live coverage.
BT Sport YouTube, 1:00 pm ET, Ultimate Boxxer III. Remember the Prizefighter tournaments on Sky? Eight-man tournaments, one night, three-round fights? It can be fun and a decent change of pace from a normal boxing show. Well this is that with a different, goofier name — I guess it really wouldn’t be that goofy without the extra “X,” to be fair. It’s a middleweight tournament this time. The first round matchups are Joe Hurn vs Grant Dennis, Tey Lynn-Jones vs Derrick Osaze, Kaan Hawes vs Kieron Conway, and Sean Phillips vs Josh Groombridge. The fights will also air on BT Sport and BoxNation in the UK, but you can watch it on the BT Sport YouTube, apparently anywhere around the world with no geoblocking or anything. And if you get geoblocked, I dunno, learn how to “be from London” like I do for an hour during Sky Sports prelims on YouTube. Or just watch the next show on this list.
DAZN, 2:00 pm ET, Leigh Wood vs Ryan Doyle, Jordan Gill vs Enrique Tinoco. These fights will also air on Sky Sports Action in the UK, part of the NXTGEN series from Matchroom, which is kinda like British ShoBox but attached to one promoter. Wood is the Commonwealth featherweight titleholder, and Gill is a pretty decent featherweight prospect taking a sideways step in this fight. BLH will have live coverage.
ESPN+, 6:00 pm ET, Berchelt-Vargas II weigh-in. Some guys will take off their clothes and some other guys in clothes will tell us how much they weigh at the moment. BLH will have live coverage.
ThompsonBoxing.com, TBA, Villa-Lopez prelims. Fights will also stream via YouTube and Facebook. Not sure of the start time for this yet, will update when we have that information. But they’re going to be doing another Thompson Boxing live stream of the prelim fights before their ShoBox card goes live. Prospects Angel Ruiz (140), Ruben Torres (130/135), and George Acosta (135) are in action, plus Stephen Acosta (115) makes his debut, and lightweight veteran Petr Petrov is on the card, too. BLH will have live coverage.
UFC Fight Pass, 9:30 pm ET, Abraham Nova vs Mario Ezequiel Sayal Lozano. This is Murphys Boxing’s first show on Fight Pass. Normally we’d be tuned in but there’s a ShoBox on and, well, ShoBox is the proven quantity and the only thing Showtime boxing has anymore that’s reliably worth watching. This show won’t be bad, though, if you like a show like this.
SHO, 10:00 pm ET. Wilder-Breazeale All Access. Go inside the May 18 Showtime main event.
SHO, 10:30 pm ET, Ruben Villa vs Luis Alberto Lopez, Michael Dutchover vs Rosekie Cristobal, Saul Sanchez vs Brandon Leon Benitez. Here’s regular ShoBox, American-style. Featherweight Villa made his ShoBox debut in January, shutting out Ruben Cervera over eight rounds, and now he’s in the 10-round main event. Dutchover is a lightweight, Sanchez a bantamweight, all unbeaten. BLH will have live coverage.
Saturday, May 11
ESPN+, 6:30 pm ET, Berchelt-Vargas II prelims. 2016 Olympic gold medalist Fazliddin Gaibnazarov, now an unbeaten junior welterweight prospect, takes a nice step up in competition against Mykal Fox, who gave Shohjahon Ergashev a good fight in February on ShoBox. The show will also feature featherweight Jason Sanchez, featherweight Miguel Marriaga, and super bantamweight Carlos Castro. BLH will have live coverage.
FOX, 8:00 pm ET, Jarrett Hurd vs Julian Williams, Mario Barrios vs Juan Jose Velasco, Matt Korobov vs Immanuwel Aleem. ITV4 will broadcast in the UK. Hurd-Williams is for Hurd’s IBF and WBA titles at 154 pounds. Williams has had a shot before and was knocked out in five by Jermall Charlo back in 2016, and has gone 4-0 since then. Barrios continues to take baby steps in the co-feature, and Korobov-Aleem is a solid middleweight opener. BLH will have live coverage.
ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Miguel Berchelt vs Francisco Vargas II, Emanuel Navarrete vs Isaac Dogboe II. BoxNation will broadcast in the UK. Two rematches, two world titles — at 130 for the main event, 122 for the co-feature. Both should be good fights, and were the first time around. Berchelt will be the clear favorite against the potentially faded Vargas, but Navarrete’s win over Dogboe was an upset, and this is Dogboe’s chance to get even. BLH will have live coverage.
FS1, 11:00 pm ET, PBC Fight Night Extra. The postlims from Fairfax, Virginia, will feature Stephen Fulton vs Paulus Ambunda at super bantamweight, Ahmed Elbiali vs Jaime Solorio at light heavyweight, and Lorenzo Simpson vs Lorawnt T. Nelson at middleweight. I am not sure if Lorawnt is related to Craig T. Nelson. BLH will have live coverage.
