According to ESPN, Cuban light heavyweight contender Sullivan Barrera has joined forces with Top Rank and will make his promotional debut on June 8th against Michael Seals. The fight will serve as the co-main event for Oscar Valdez vs. Erick Ituarte in Reno.

As ESPN mentions, this means he now shares promoters with Eleider Alvarez, Zurdo Ramirez, and every light heavyweight world champion besides Dmitry Bivol.

Barrera (22-2, 14 KO) has been one of the more entertaining 175ers in recent years, though he’s struggled to get over the hump in losses to Andre Ward and the aforementioned Bivol. He was last seen handing Seanie Monaghan his first pro loss back in November.

You may vaguely recall Seals (22-2. 16 KO) for his insane three-round war with Edwin Rodriguez back in 2015. He’s since gone 3-1, including a DQ loss to 22-26 Michael Gbenga for hitting a downed opponent.

I’ve got a gut feeling that this is meant to set up Barrera vs. Ramirez, which I would be very much down for. Any objections?
