As unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) inches towards his June 1st fight against Andy Ruiz Jr. (32-1, 21 KOs) on DAZN, Joshua makes it clear that he’s coming to do a job on Ruiz and then continue stake his claim as the best heavyweight in the world, hopefully by a wide margin.
Joshua tells Sky Sports that he’s been training hard for this fight — which was originally supposed to come against Jarrell Miller until he flunked a handful of drug tests — and that he’s aware that Ruiz isn’t simply coming to lay down for him.
“I’m training hard, and I want to demolish Andy Ruiz in good fashion and then I look forward to more competitive fights.
“Ruiz has never been hurt, he’s a strong guy. I’ve been hurt and people have seen me put down.
“Dillian Whyte caught me with a sweet left hook, so they have seen my weaknesses, and I haven’t really seen a weakness in Andy Ruiz.
The British titleholder would continue by talking about basing this training camp out of Miami for this outing, saying he considered working out of New York, where he’ll fight, but that the weather is obviously much nicer down south. Who knew?! Joshua finally mentioned that he’s even spoken to Wladimir Klitschko, who has also trained out of Miami in the past, and said he’s just following in his footsteps.
