130-pound champion Eva Wahlstrom headlines August 2nd Fight Pass card

Wahlstrom moved up in weight to unsuccessfully challenge Katie Taylor in December

Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions, whose collaboration with Fight Pass allows U.S. viewers to watch Wednesday’s Kazuto Ioka-Aston Palicte bout, will once again air a world title fight on the platform when Eva Wahlstrom defends her WBC super featherweight belt against Yareli Larios on August 2nd.

Additional good news: that’s a Friday.

You probably remember Wahlstrom (22-1-1, 3 KO) from her bout with Katie Taylor last December, which saw Taylor sweep her on all three scorecards. The 38-year-old will be returning to 130 for her fifth title defense and her second appearance outside of her native Finland.

Larios (13-2-1, 3 KO), BoxRec’s #12 in the division, is coming off of a loss to 2016 Olympian Mikaela Mayer in February. Her other pro defeat came against super bantamweight champion Yazmin Rivas in 2017.

The co-main event sees a prospect from my home town, San Antonio super lightweight Kendo Castaneda, square off with TBA.

Not the most stacked card in the world, but it doesn’t interfere with anything on Saturday, so no complaints here.
