Belfast junior welterweight Tyrone McKenna is looking to show his class on Friday against Dublin’s Darragh Foley when the two meet at Ulster Hall on ESPN+.
McKenna (18-1-1, 6 KO) says he’s familiar with Foley (17-3-1, 9 KO) and ready to look good.
“I know what kind of fighter Foley is. I’ve watched him live. He does some things well but a lot of things badly and I think I can exploit them,” McKenna said. “I won’t dive into tactics but I believe I’m the better fighter all-round in every department. I’m fully confident.
“From what I’ve seen, he’s a big character. He seems to be eccentric and loud — a bit like myself — so it could be an exciting press conference. He’s from Dublin and proud of it and I’m from Belfast and proud of it so the fans are in for a treat inside and outside the ring.
“Hopefully you see a smart, calm, collected and more complete Tyrone McKenna than you’ve ever seen. I’m training very hard and I showed my boxing skills in my last fight — albeit against a lesser opponent. I’ll build on that and I think you’ll see a real masterclass of a display from me that night.”
