Ioka vs Palicte results: Kazuto Ioka wins world title in fourth weight class

Kazuto Ioka made some history today in Japan.

Kazuto Ioka became the first male fighter in Japan’s history to win world titles in four weight classes, picking up the vacant WBO super flyweight title with a 10th round stoppage win over Aston Palicte today in Chiba, Japan.

Ioka (24-2, 14 KO) had already won titles at 105, 108, and 112, and in his second chance at this 115-pound belt, has made history. He figured to be able to outbox the rugged Filipino Palicte (25-3-1, 21 KO), and he did that over the first six rounds, opening up likely a large lead on the cards.

Palicte, to his credit, really went after it in the first half of the seventh round, but when it didn’t pay off, his fate was pretty much sealed. As Palicte gassed a bit within that round, Ioka fully took over, and a monster flurry of punches forced referee Kenny Chevalier to stop the fight at 1:46 of the 10th round, with Palicte still stubbornly on his feet but eating serious leather.

WBA junior flyweight titleholder Hiroto Kyoguchi defended his title with a decision win over Satanmuanglek CP Freshmart. Kyoguchi improves to 13-0 (9 KO), while Satanmuanglek falls to 11-1 (5 KO) in his first pro defeat.

Miyo Yoshida won the vacant WBO super flyweight women’s title, beating Casey Morton by wide unanimous decision. Scores were 99-91, 100-90, and 100-90. Yoshida improves to 13-1 (0 KO), while Morton falls to 8-2-3 (1 KO).
