Despite his loss to Franklin Manzanilla last year on a cut, Ceja (32-3, 28 KO) is ranked #1 by the sanctioning body, possibly due to briefly holding the title after his 2015 knockout of Hugo Ruiz. Rigondeaux (18-1, 12 KO), the former WBO and WBA “super” champ, is ranked #3, with Japanese veteran Shingo Wake sandwiched in the middle at #2.
Frankly, I’d be 100% down to see either one of these two fight Vargas or Kameda. Ceja hits like a truck and is guaranteed entertainment, while I’m eager to see whether Rigo can still hold his own against elite fighters who don’t dwarf him.
