Tonight at 7:10 pm ET on Golden Boy’s Facebook page, Golden Boy Fight Night is back with a 10-round middleweight main event from Atlantic City, featuring unbeaten D’Mitrius Ballard in action.
Ballard is a 26-year-old from Temple Hills, Maryland, who has sort of been at the same level for a while now, and tonight’s matchup with Elias Espadas really looks like a sideways step on paper. Espadas, 28, was beaten last July by Yamaguchi Falcao, but was competitive and went 10 rounds. Most of his record is him beating up on overmatched opponents.
In the co-feature, former prospect Eddie Gomez returns in a welterweight bout against veteran Saul Corral. Gomez, 26, was seen as a rising star at 147 before a 2014 loss to Francisco Santana, and then he was knocked out in one by Rashidi Ellis in 2016, and also lost a split decision to Alejandro Barrera in 2017. Right now, though, he’s won two straight, decent wins over Keandre Gibson and Shoki Sakai. Corral, 32, is a journeyman sort who beats scrubs and then gets called in to lose to real fighters, be they prospects or vets in need of a win.
Here’s the full lineup:
