Artur Szpilka expects ‘crazy fight’ with Dereck Chisora

Former heavyweight contender Artur Szpilka (22-3, 15 KOs) is currently set to take on Dereck Chisora (30-9, 21 KOs) on the Dillian Whyte vs Oscar Rivas undercard, and Szpilka says that he chose Chisora as an opponent because he’s looking forward to a crazy scrap.

“I chose this fight because we are both crazy men and it’s going to be a crazy fight!” said Szpilka. “Chisora is a good fighter, he is bull strong and he can box well.

“He turns up to every fight in great condition, so I know it is going to be a tough night for me. We are both warriors who like to fight, this will be violent.”

Szpilka, 30, hasn’t fought for a world title since getting sparked by Deontay Wilder back in early 2016. Since then Szpilka would get knocked out again by Adam Kownacki, but has since bounced back with a couple of decision wins against Dominick Guinn and Mariusz Wach.

Meanwhile Chisora, 35, is known as a tough battler, but he’s also looking to get back into the thick of things in the heavyweight division. Chisora was knocked out by Dillian Whyte last December, in what was a good performance by Chisora up until he got clipped late — shit happens, I guess — and he’s since took a unanimous decision against Senad Gashi this past April.

There’s little doubt that both these fighters will bring it on fight night, and although it’s not the most significant matchup in the heavyweight division, it could prove to be a pretty entertaining one.
