Former heavyweight titleholder Wladimir Klitschko is back in the news, but this time because he nearly sunk his own battleship (or yacht, rather), when he took his family and friends out for a late night cruise.
Klitschko, 43, confirmed on his Twitter account that the Spanish coast guard had to save everyone aboard his boat, which apparently caught fire at sea.
Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for “some #adrenalin” a bit too literally and our boat-trip Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team. No worries: we are all fine! #theroofisonfire #song pic.twitter.com/sGN7xfG5JM

Personally, though, I’m a bit surprised Shannon Briggs wasn’t on the scene as a first responder.
Luckily the retired fighter confirmed that nobody was seriously hurt in the incident, and detailed that his group was about seven miles off the coastline in rough waters when they ‘suddenly recognized fire.’ Klitschko made sure to express his thanks and gratitude to all the coast guard and fire rescue folks who came to the rescue, but did say he ended up having to cancel his participation in a ‘summer barbecue.’ Oh, the irony...
