According to a report from ESPN, former welterweight titleholder Jeff Horn (19-1-1, 13 KOs) has currently agreed to take on fellow Australian fighter Michael Zerafa (26-3, 15 KOs) on August 31st in Bendigo. The fight will specifically take place at the new Bendigo Stadium which is expected to seat up to 4,000 fans for the event.
Horn, 31, is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Anthony Mundine last November, his first win since getting hammered by Terence Crawford last summer.
Meanwhile Zerafa, 27, also scored a stoppage win in a rebound fight against Les Sherrington this past April, after taking a unanimous decision loss to Kell Brook last December.
Martin Pakula, Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, says he believes the fight will be a big moment for the region while offering these thoughts:
“Victoria is unmatched as the sporting and event capital and we’re excited to be able to bring such a high class fight to the brand new Bendigo Stadium,” he said. “Sporting events like this are more than just great spectacles, they’re a big driver of the regional economy and offer great opportunities for local businesses.”
