Demetrius Andrade vs Maciej Sulecki

Round 1: Sulecki tries a jab that falls short. Andrade pulls out of range on a Sulecki right hand. Now Andrade comes forward behind a straight left hand that falls just short. Andrade lands a hard left to the body and then follows it u with a big left upstairs that drops Sulecki! Sulecki gets up and and wants to continue and Andrade lands two more left hands upstairs! Right hand lead partially lands for Sulecki. Andrade lands a hard left to the body. Hard left hand lands clean for Andrade upstairs. Another looping shot from Andrade puts Sulecki down but it’s ruled a trip. Andrade tries to line up a big left hand that just barely misses. Right hook lands upstairs for Andrade who is putting on a show for his hometown fans. Andrade 10-8.

Round 2: That first round was the most aggressive I’ve seen Andrade in a while. Let’s see if he keeps it up. Andrade’s trainer tells him not to make this a war. Andrade comes out and lands a right jab. Andrade misses on a jab and the crowd starts booing now that Andrade starts boxing more than brawling. Jab lands clean for Andrade. Sulecki falls short on a right hand lead. Andrade goes downstairs with a left hand that doesn’t land well. Sulecki misses on three punches at center ring and Andrade tries to come back with a body shot. Right hand partially lands for Sulecki, but Andrade lands a hard left straight to the body in return. Not a lot of clean punching in this round. Andrade 10-9, 20-17.

Round 3: Andrade takes a stand at center ring confidently, swaying his hands up and down before he lands a glancing right hook on Sulecki. Left hand goes to the body for Andrade but Sulecki partially blocks it. Andrade trying to establish his jab now as he tries to establish the range he wants to box at. Two jabs come fro Andrade and Sulecki can’t keep Andrade still to really launch his own attack. Left hand lands to the body for Andrade. ANdrade blocks a Sulecki right hand. Now Andrade jumps in behind a long combination to the body and head. Andrade gets a little wild in his attack and I’m not used to this side of him. Andrade 10-9.

Round 4: Two jabs come from Sulecki but don’t land. Now Sulecki tries a lead right hand that partially lands. Andrade misses on a big left hand but then lands a right hook to the body. Andrade ducks a couple of Sulecki hooks but misses on a counter right hook of his own. Andrade throws a wild overhand that misses with Sulecki along the ropes. Left hand lead partially lands for Andrade. Left hand lead lands again for Andrade who is bouncing on his toes now. Wide left hook lands for Andrade and has Sulecki back on the ropes. Andrade comes forward with several hard shots but the bell rings to interrupt. Andrade 10-9, 40-35.

Round 5: Sulecki’s corner tell him that he has to start coming forward now. Andrade ducks an attack from Sulecki and dances around the outside of the ring for the opening 30 seconds. Sulecki can’t even touch Andrade once he starts moving around. Jab land for Andrade, who then steps out of range of a Sulecki counter. Sulecki tries to lands a right hand to the body which is a good idea. Andrade does the Ali shuffle at center ring and then throws a left to the body. Andrade slips a shot from Sulecki and is easily evading Sulecki’s attack before landing a big overhand right. Andrade is comfortable int he ring and is trying to put on a shot now. Bolo punch comes from Andrade. Straight left from Andrade lands to the body at the bell. Andrade 10-9.

Round 6: Andrade is pitching a shutout so far in this fight. Sulecki tries a jab that falls short. Now Sulecki throws a right hook that Andrade is able to duck. Short right uppercut lands for Andrade as he steps into close quarters. Jab lands for Andrade this time. Sulecki just can’t cope in the ring, he hasn’t given up on himself but he can’t match Andrade in any department. Counter jab lands for Andrade at center ring. Straight left partially lands for Andrade, who then steps forward and lands a clean right hook to the body. Both fighters trade jabs at center ring. Andrade tries a wide left hand that doesn’t have the right arc on it to land clean. Andrade 10-9, 60-53.

Round 7: Sulecki lands a jab to start the round. Now Sulecki tries to lands a right hand to the body. Straight left hand from Andrade falls just short. Straight left to the body lands for Andrade. Now Andrade lands a flicking jab, then another in the middle of the ring. Left hand partially lands for Andrade, who then misses on a follow up right hook. Andrade ducks a right hook from Sulecki. Andrade is just outboxing Sulecki easily. Andrade 10-9.

Round 8: Andrade lands a counter jab to open the round. Andrade tries a check right hook but misses. Left hand lands to the body for Andrade. RIght hand lead lands for Sulecki. Andrade is getting into that mode where he’s content to fight off the back foot and just dominate this fight on the outside. Jabs land for Andrade but the crowd doesn’t like how the tone of this fight has changed from the early rounds. Andrade just continues to jab and keep Sulecki at the end of his punches. Right hook to the body partially lands for Andrade at the end of a short combination. Hard left to the body lands again for Andrade. Andrade 10-9, 80-71.

Round 9: Andrade’s trainer tells him to sit down on his punches in this round and let his hands fly. Andrade lands a left hand to the body, then partially lands one upstairs. Andrade still laying back and waiting for Sulecki to make a mistake. Andrade jabs and steps to the side, then ducks Sulecki’s return fire. Right hook partially lands for Andrade upstairs. Sulecki lands a right hand to the body. Andrade throws a short combination on the inside. Andrade pushes forward behind several shots that back Sulecki off. Sulecki partially lands a left hook. Right hook lands on the inside for Andrade. Andrade 10-9.

Round 10: Andrade’s trainer is still urging him to turn the heat up on Sulecki. Andrade lands two clean body shots on the inside. Right hook to the body lands for Andrade. Hard left hook lands upstairs for Andrade and Sulecki backs off. Check hook lands for Andrade. Andrade tries a left to the body that doesn’t land clean. Now Andrade comes back with two more body shots before landing a wide left hook upstairs. Andrade misses on a big left hook upstairs and ends up in a clinch. Left hand lands clean again for Andrade. Two more left hooks come from Andrade and make contact. Andrade is fighting with both his hands down as he’s not threatened at all by Sulecki. Andrade 10-9, 100-89.

Round 11: Straight left hand lands for Andrade. Now Andrade lands a jab before stepping in behind two hooks that Sulecki is able to defend pretty well. Double right hook comes from Andrade, he lands one. Andrade jumps in behind a short combination and then gets back on the outside. Two body shots land for Andrade. Sulecki hasn’t gotten anything going all night long. Looping left hand comes from Andrade again. Right jab lands clean for Andrade. Andrade 10-9.

Round 12: Sulecki comes out aggressively and misses on a left hook. Now Andrade walks Sulecki into a straight left hand. Counter jab lands for Andrade. More jabs come from Andrade who is keeping Sulecki’s hands at home. Andrade slips a Sulecki jab and then dances away. Counter jab lands again for Andrade. Check hook makes contact for Andrade who then puts in a straight left to the body for good measure. Two more body shots come from Andrade. Andrade misses on a big left hand. Andrade 10-9. I’ve got it a shutout for Andrade, 120-107.

Joseph Parker vs Alex Leapai

Round 1: Parker measures with a jab and then lands a couple follow up ones. Leapai presses forward but ends up in a clunch. Now Parker lands a hard combination that hurts Leapai early! Leapai is in trouble already! Hard left hook to the body lands for Parker. Leapai takes a deep breath, tucks his chin, and tries to push Parker to the ropes. Leapai misses on a wild right hand and Parker comes back with a hard combination of punches that Leapai defends pretty well. Right hand splits Leapai’s guard. Now Parker lands an uppercut followed by a left hook to the body. Leapai tries a combination but eats a couple uppercuts on the inside. Parker 10-9.

Round 2: Hard combination comes from Parker who finishes to the body. Right hand from Parker splits the guard again, then a left hook to the body. Leapai complains of a shot that landed low and the referee gives him a break to recover. Leapai says he’s ready to continue and he comes out with a wild uppercut from long range. Shots from Parker are landing clean on Leapai, followed by two clean body shots and Leapai is going to fade quick at the rate he’s taking clean punches. Right hand lead lands for Parker. Leapai misses on a homerun right hand and Parker turns Leapai to the ropes and lands a few hooks to the head as Leapai tries to roll the shots. Parker 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Leapai comes out and lands a left hook to start the round. Another low blow lands for Parker and the referee warns Parker about it and gives Leapai another break to recover. Leapai is warned not to retaliate by the referee. Two shots come from Parker and Leapai partially lands a right uppercut. Two body shots come from Parker. Overhand right comes from Parker now but Leapai is able to deflect it some. Right hand lead from Parker splits Leapai’s guard this time. Leapai looks to work the body for a moment but gets turned by Parker who touches both sides of Leapai’s body. Parker is working Leapai along the ropes. Hard body shot lands for Parker just before the bell. Parker 10-9.

Round 4: Check hook partially lands for Parker. Now Parker throws two stiff jabs followed by a hook and an uppercut that lands pretty well. Parker continues to throw combinations as Leapai covers up. Parker lands another check hook and then whips in a wide right hook that is partially blocked by Leapai. Leapai walks into a Parker right hand and Leapai is back on the ropes again and Parker is looking to do damage. Jab lands clean for Parker. Right hand from Parker knocks Leapai back just before the bell. Parker 10-9, 40-36.

Round 5: Parker measures with a jab and then lands a check hook as Leapai steps forward. Two sharp jabs land clean for Parker. Right hand from Parker splits Leapai’s guard again. One-two lands for Parker but Leapai still looks to stand in there. Hard body shots land for Parker at center ring. Leapai tries to launch a big shot but slips and falls to the canvas. Parker comes back with jabs upstairs and then a solid right hand to the body. Hard left hook, right hand combination lands for Parker. Parker 10-9.

Round 6: Parker flicks out a few measuring jabs and then lands a clean one. Another jab lands well for Parker, who lands a left hook right after. Right hand lands to the body for Parker. Leapai tries a wild right uppercut that misses badly. Three jabs come from Parker, two land. Leapai misses on two huge punches and Parker comes back with a straight right hand. Jab lands for Parker now. Parker is dominating this fight pretty easily. Parker 10-9, 60-54.

Round 7: Leapai tries that same wild right uppercut that misses once again. Hard right hand from Parker snaps Leapai’s head back. Leapai is covering up with some distressed body language along the ropes. Check hook partially lands for Parker. Clean jab snaps Leapai’s head back again and Leapai takes a step back to collect his thoughts. Hard right hand lands for Parker again. Leapai isn’t even really throwing anymore, he’s just a heavy bag in there. Parker 10-9.

Round 8: Parker flicks out a couple jabs and then lets go a right hand that partially lands upstairs. Parker lands a right uppercut this time. Jab to the body lands for Parker. Leapai misses on a wild right hook and then the referee calls a timeout to clean up a wet spot in the corner. Right hand from Parker glances off Leapai’s head. Uppercut comes from Parker this time and Leapai stands in there behind his leaky guard. A couple of jabs come from Parker at center ring and Leapai has nothing left. Parker 10-9, 80-72.

Round 9: Parker throws a jab and then steps to the side. Leapai steps forward but walks into a Parker combination. Two body shots land for Parker on the inside. Now Parker lands an uppercut and a hook with Leapai on the ropes. Leapai tries a left hand that doesn’t make an impact. Parker lands two jabs at center ring and Leapai grabs hold — he’s exhausted. Right hand from Parker partially lands upstairs. Leapai misses on a wide right hand after swinging wildly. Leapai’s nose has been bleeding pretty badly and might be broken. Parker 10-9.

Round 10: No clean punching for the opening minute of the round as both fighters look a little tired. Parker lands a right hand behind a jab. Now Parker throws another one-two and then digs a left hook to the body. Right hand from Parker knocks Leapai back to the ropes but Leapai lands a counter left hook of his own. Jab lands clean for Parker. Right hand lands clean for Parker again, then another that knocks Leapai a few steps back. Another series of punches land for Parker and the referee steps in to stop the fight. Parker TKO-10.

Kal Yafai vs Norbelto Jimenez

Round 1: Yafai misses on a quick jab to start the round, then walks into a Jimenez left hook. Yafai lands a good shot of his own now. Yafai parries a couple of jabs from Jimenez and looks to land a left hook that doesn’t find the mark. Referee has to call a timeout as Yafai’s shorts get pulled down. Yafai lands a solid body shot and continues to back Jimenez up. Solid left hook to the body lands for Yafai. Jimenez looks concerned about Yafai’s power. Yafai lands a combination and then a solid hook upstairs. Both fighters trade and Jimenez goes down on a slip. Yafai 10-9.

Round 2: Yafai feints as he looks to walk Jimenez down. Jimenez throws a short combination but then gets caught but a punch that has Jimenez on unsteady legs. Jimenez tries to stick-and-move so he can get some time to recover but Yafai steps in and lands a hard hook upstairs. Jimenez smiles at Yafai but he’s clearly in trouble. Yafai misses on a big left hook aimed at the head — he should look back down to the body. Clean jab lands for Yafai who then partially lands a left hook. Now Jimenez lands a short uppercut on the inside. Yafai 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Yafai presses Jimenez back but Jimenez lands a right hand to the body. Now Yafai lands a left to the body himself and Jimenez ties him up. Check hook partially lands for Jimenez. Jimenez misses on a wide left hook and Yafai lands a chopping right hand that knocks Jimenez off balance. Jimenez waves him on and Yafai comes after him, trying another overhand right that Jimenez partially blocks this time. Double left hook lands for Yafai and puts Jimenez right back on the ropes. Another two left hooks come from Yafai and Jimenez covers up. Yafai 10-9.

Round 4: Check hook doesn’t land well for Jimenez to open the round. Yafai stalks Jimenez and lands two hooks upstairs. Jab lands for Jimenez, who is desperately trying to keep this fight at arms reach. Two big hooks miss for Yafai but he still has Jimenez along the ropes and now Yafai lands two left hooks to the body. Jimenez gets warned by the referee about holding. Now Jimenez gets a point taken away for holding just moments later. Yafai 10-8, 40-35.

Round 5: Two jabs come from Jimenez but they don’t land well. Now Jimenez lands a right hand. Both fighters get in a clinch and Yafai lands a low blow that puts Jimenez down. There was also an accidental head clash in that sequence that put cut on Yafai’s face. Time is back in and Jimenez tries to throw a flurry of punches to take advantage of the blood on Yafai’s face. Short right hand lands for Jimenez. Yafai misses on a big left hook upstairs. Now Yafai tries to bring the hook to the body but Jimenez blocks it along the ropes. Two punches land for Jimenez along the ropes. Yafai misses on another hook upstairs and Jimenez ties up. Now Jimenez lands a right uppercut but Yafai pushes Jimenez down to the canvas at the bell. Jimenez 10-9.

Round 6: Yafai starts with a couple jabs that don’t land clean. Now Yafai throws a right hand that pushes Jimenez to the ropes. Chopping right hand lands for Yafai. Jimenez throws a few jabs and tries to move out of range, otherwise tie up. Hard body shots land for Yafai and buckles Jimenez’s knees. Right hand lead lands for Jimenez. Yafai continues to stalk forward and lands a right hand to the body, then a right hand upstairs. Jab lands for Yafai. Clean jab comes from Jimenez and knocks Yafai’s mouthpiece out. The referee immediately calls a timeout to put it back in. Yafai 10-9, 59-54.

Round 7: Jimenez flicks out a few half-hearted jabs to just to establish range. Yafai comes forward aggressively and ends up in a clinch. Left to the body lands for Yafai. Right hand lands for Jimenez but a counter from Yafai buckles his legs agian. Jimenez tries a lead hook that Yafai blocks. Jimenez walks into a shot from Yafai now at center ring. Two hooks to the body come from Yafai, then a hard left hook that lands upstairs. Yafai slips to the canvas at center ring. Another hook cuffs Jimenez’s head. Yafai 10-9.

Round 8: Jimenez tries to throw a combination of punches that keeps Yafai’s hands at home for the first minute of the round. Jimenez still has enough in his legs to keep Yafai from setting his feet and now Jimenez lands two body shots at center ring. Counter right hand lands for Jimenez. This is the best work Jimenez has done all fight. Right hand lands for Yafai. Now Yafai lands two body shots that land low and fold Jimenez in half. Jimenez goes down and the referee rules the punches low blows, giving Jimenez some time to recover. Jimenez looks hurt from those shots, though. The referee directs Jimenez to pick himself off the canvas and calls a time in before Jimenez was ready to continue. Jimenez 10-9, 64-68.

Round 9: Yafai misses on a right hand and then grabs Jimenez by the waist and Jimenez spins Yafai and throws him to the canvas. Two jabs come from Jimenez. Jimenez throws a combination on the inside but doesn’t land it well. Now both fighters trade a couple shots before grabbing hold of one another. Chopping right hand lands for Jimenez. Hard left hook lands for Yafai and shakes Jimenez up. Jimenez takes a step back and looks to gather himself. That punch is gonna win Yafai the round for me. Now Jimenez lands a clean counter before the bell but I don’t think it’s enough. Yafai 10-9.

Round 10: Jimenez misses on a jab, then two more. Yafai tries to jab with him but Jimenez lands a few long shots on Yafai. Now Yafai is backing up and Jimenez steps forward and lands a jab. Jab lands clean for Yafai and Jimenez comes back and lands a right and left hand before pivoting around the ring. Right hand lands for Yafai but Jimenez takes it well. Now Jimenez lands a counter left. I’m gonna go with Jimenez here. Jimenez 10-9, 97-92.

Round 11: Jab lands o the body for Jimenez. Now Jimenez tries a right hand to the body that falls just short. Jimenez walks into a Yafai left hook followed by a right hand to the body a short time later. Yafai misses on a wide right hook upstairs. Now Jimenez jumps in behind a long punch but can’t quite find the target. Cuffing right hand lands for Yafai. Two left hands come from Yafai on the inside and Jimenez steps back. Yafai 10-9.

Round 12: Jimenez tries a right hand that doesn’t land clean. Jimenez comes forward with a couple more hooks as Yafai covers up. Right hand lands on the inside for Jimenez. Jimenez misses on two long hooks at center ring now. Yafai tries to time a counter left hook but he misses. Now Jimenez gets pushed to the canvas at center ring during a clinch. Left hook lands upstairs for Yafai but Jimenez fires back and then holds Yafai to force a break. Hard left hook lands for Yafai and knocks Jimenez down! Jimenez thinks it was a push down but it’s not ruled as such. Yafai 10-8. I’ve got it for Yafai, 117-109.


Tonight from Providence, Rhode Island, streaming live on DAZN, Demetrius Andrade defends the WBO middleweight title against Poland’s Maciej Sulecki in the main event.

Andrade is making the second defense of the WBO 160-pound belt he won last year, the second division in which he’s won a world title. Andrade is fighting at home in Providence, and hopes, of course, to land a money fight down the line with Canelo Alvarez or Gennadiy Golovkin.

Former heavyweight titleholder Joseph Parker returns against Alex Leapai, and Kal Yafai defends his WBA 115-pound belt against Norbelto Jimenez.
