Tonight at 9 pm ET on Showtime from Houston, Texas, Jermall Charlo puts his undefeated record and questionable WBC middleweight title on the line against Brandon Adams in the main event.
Charlo is sort of a man without many options at the moment, as PBC are pretty barren at 160, with the division’s top names — Canelo, GGG, Andrade, Jacobs, etc. — pretty much all with DAZN. So in steps Adams, a solid fighter but never close to a world level-contender in his career. To be fair, Adams was highly sought-after this spring, with Gennadiy Golovkin’s team also trying to get him for a tune-up bout, which instead went to Steve Rolls when Adams chose Charlo instead.
The show is a tripleheader, with eliminators at 154 (Erickson Lubin vs Zakaria Attou) and 126 (Eduardo Ramirez vs Claudio Marrero), the latter an actual good matchup on paper.
Main Card (SHO, 9:00 pm ET)
- Jermall Charlo (28-0, 21 KO) vs Brandon Adams (21-2, 13 KO), middleweights, 12 rounds
- Erickson Lubin (20-1, 15 KO) vs Zakaria Attou (29-6-2, 7 KO), junior middleweights, 12 rounds
- Eduardo Ramirez (22-1-3, 9 KO) vs Claudio Marrero (23-3, 17 KO), featherweights, 12 rounds
