Zab Judah targeting another world title at 140lbs, says current champions are unfamiliar

Judah first takes on Cletus Seldin this weekend.

Former titleholder Zab Judah (44-9, 30 KOs) will back in action on Friday night, taking on Cletus Seldin (23-1, 19 KOs) at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in New York. And leading into the bout Judah tells FightHype that he has his eye on winning a seventh world championship title before he calls it quits.

“All I’m doing is focusing on Friday night, Cletus Seldin, making sure he get a nice bedtime story, and that’s it. And let the world on pay-per-view watch this,” Judah began.

Judah on what he thinks Seldin does well as a fighter:

“Yeah, he shows up. He shows up to the fight...Friday night he’s gonna show up and be there, and be present and be the body that I need to be #31st.”

On wanting to become a seven-time champion and if he’s been keeping an eye on the other champions in the junior welterweight division:

“I’m never looking past my opponent but I study boxing. You know, as you can see, I been at all the fights, I go to all the fights. I always got my ear and my eyes locked in to what’s going on next and who’s the next biggest guy coing up, and the next youngest fighter coming up. And, you know, I’m always locked and loaded for that type of situation.

“Just for me to go back in there at 140lbs and go in there and snatch another world title...this is gonna be amazing.”

On his thoughts on the 140lb champions Jose Ramirez, Regis Prograis, Josh Taylor, and Maurice Hooker:

“Well I’m actually doing training right now so I don’t do no know, everything else is not familiar to me. Those guys is like ‘who?’ When I’m back, I’m back! Whoever should be eenie-meenie-minie-mo, that get picked, just be ready.”
