Adam Kownacki-Chris Arreola, Marcus Browne-Jean Pascal, Andre Berto-Miguel Cruz official for August 3rd

Arreola has vowed to retire again if he loses

Premier Boxing Champions

Adam Kownacki vs. Chris Arreola will lead a PBC on FOX tripleheader on August 3rd at Barclays Center alongside Marcus Browne vs. Jean Pascal and Andre Berto vs. Miguel Cruz

We’ve been over Kownacki (19-0, 15 KO) vs. Arreola (38-5-1, 33 KO) and Browne (23-0, 16 KO) vs. Pascal (33-6-1, 20 KO), the latter of which remains garbage matchmaking, but Berto (32-5, 24 KO vs. Cruz (18-1, 12 KO) is new. Berto is coming off of a controversial split decision over Devon Alexander in his first bout since falling to Shawn Porter in 2017. Cruz is a presumably busted prospect who lost big to Josesito Lopez two Aprils ago and was last seen winning a bounce-back six-rounder on the Nyambayar-Marrero undercard in January.

Cruz is about the level of opponent we can expect Berto to comfortably beat at the moment, so it seems PBC isn’t ready to cash the latter out yet.

In a change of pace, the show appears to be running unopposed at the moment. We’ll see how long that lasts.
