As Dillian Whyte (25-1, 18 KOs) prepares to take on Oscar Rivas (26-0, 18 KOs) this weekend, with a mandatory title shot against WBC champion Deontay Wilder on the line, Whyte lets it be known that he’s not looking past Rivas as an opponent and is fully looking forward to their impending battle on Saturday at London’s O2 Arena.
“I don’t overlook no one,” he said. “I train hard for everyone and the violence of the sport excites me. I train for it. I love that. I’m ready for that. Why would I all of a sudden overlook someone now?
“...this is going to be a fight, and it’s one thing I know how to do - is fight. I’ve been fighting forever. Anyone that knows me will tell you, that’s what I do, I fight. I don’t know how to do a lot of other things well, but I know how to fight.”
Considering that Whyte has been vocal about his displeasure with the WBC for some time now, getting official confirmation that he’ll get the world title shot he’s been looking for with a win should provide him with all the motivation he needs. But Rivas certainly won’t be a pushover, as he has some world title aspirations of his own.
Rivas isn’t a man of too many words though, but he still reassures everyone that he’s prepared himself very well during training camp and that he’s ready to see what happens this weekend. We should be in line for some solid action.
