MANNY PACQUIAO vs KEITH THURMAN

Round 1: Thurman takes a step forward and throws two to the body that misses. Pac presses forward and falls short on a left hand following two reaching jabs. Left lands for Pac this time, but Thurman comes back with Three punches as Pac covers up. Right hand lead lands clean for Thurman, Pac nods. Thurman looks comfortable early and steps in with a right hand. Pac misses on a right hook upstairs but gets in a body shot. Thurman walks forward behind three punches that pushes Pac to the ropes. Thurman lands another clean right hand upstairs! Thurman looks like he’s already got his distance down early. Hard hook lands for Thurman, but Pac comes back with a right hand that puts Thurman down while backing up! Thurman gets up and lands a left hook! Pacquiao 10-8.

Round 2: Thurman measures with the jab and steps forward with a left hook to the body. Pac flicks a jab as he bobs his head from side-to-side. Thurman lands another straight right hand lead, Pac fuies back and Thurman circles out. Thurman lands a right hand as he turns southpaw. Now he goes back to orthodox and Pac lands a right hook. Now Pac steps in with a couple shots that Thurman blocks. Thurman throws a few shots with Pac on the ropes and he turns southpaw and back orthodox again. Right hand from Thurman gets blocked. Pav throws some quick shots and Thurman tries to respond but misses. Pac shuffles at the end of the round to taunt Thurman. Pacquiao 10-9.

Round 3: Thurman jabs and jabs again at center ring. Thurman looks to press forward and back Pacquiao up more. Right hand lead falls short for Thurman. Pac throws a left hand that grazes Thurman. Thurman holds his ground at center ring as Pac lands a clean right jab. Thurman steps in and lands a left to the body, then a right. Thurman pushes Pac back to the ropes as Pac tries to bait him into an exchange. Two body shots land well for Thurman. Left hook lands on the inside for Thurman. Two more body shots land for Thurman. Thurman throws a couple more body shots to end the round for good measure. Thurman 10-9.

Round 4: Thurman steps forward quickly and lands a few shots. Now Pacquiao stands in and fires back his own punches, Thurman responds with his own! Thurman has Pac on the ropes but Pac turns back to center ring but Thurman lands a left hook to the body. Two body shots land for Pac now and Thurman immediately comes back with another body shot. Lead left to the body makes some contact but Pac fires back in return but can’t land clean. Jab lands over the top for Pacquiao. Now Pacquiao puts in a combination of punches as Thurman comvers up. Thurman stands in and tries to walk Pacquiao back but Pac scored a lot in that sequence. Left hook lands clean for Thurman upstairs. Right hook to the body lands for Thurman at the bell. I think that long flurry from Pac was the difference maker in this round. Pacquiao 10-9, 39-36.

Round 5: Thurman walks in and throws two punches that has Pac on the ropes quickly. Thurman tries to throw a right hand to the body but it doesn’t land well. Left hook lands for Pav upstairs. Thurman comes back with a combination of punches. Hard right hand lands for Thurman! Pac taps his gloves! Right hand scores for Thurman again. Pac starts coming forward now and Thurman is bleeding from his nose. Thurman blocks a shot and then throws a left hook, Pac gets in his own. Right hand lands upstairs for Pac. Rhutman throws a right hook and lands. Thurman lands two jabs and then takes one back. Pac throws some shots as Thurman covers up. Thurman ‘s face is bloody! He might have a broken nose. Pacquiao 10-9.

Round 6: Thurman comes out stalking and lands a left to the body. Jab lands to the body for Thurman. Pac lands a right over the top but Thurman comes back and gets in a shot. Pac picks Thurman off with a right hand. Left hand lead lands for Pacquiao. Double jab from Pac lands on Thurman’s face. Jab lands for Thurman at center ring. Clean right hand counter lands for Thurman. Another right hand lands for Thurman but his nose is still bleeding pretty good. Two body shots land for Thurman. Pac lands a right hook over Thurman’s jab. Thurman ducks a Pac left hand. Right hook lands for Thurman upstairs. Combination from Thurman lands. Thurman 10-9, 55-58.

Round 7: Thurman comes out with an assault and puts Pacquiao on the ropes. Thurman let’s both hands fly again as Pac covers up. Left to the body lands for Thurman. Clean right hand counter lands for Thurman again, getting Pacquiao’s strict attention! Pac throws a quick combination that misses and eats a Thurman Jab. Hard right hook lands for Thurman with Pac on the ropes! Two more shots land clean for Thurman at center ring before they fall into a clinch. Thurman is having his best round of the fight. Right hand lands for Thurman,then another that buckles Pac’s knees for a second! Good round for Thurman. Thurman 10-9.

Round 8: Thurman measures with a jab and then looks to land a right but Pac steps out of range. Vintage left hand lead lands for Pac as he steps around Thurman. Thurman gets back to the jab and tries a straight right hand that misses. Two short shots land for Thurman on the inside. Pac throws an overhand right. Double right hand lands for Thurman. Pac reaches on a straight left that falls short. Right hand counter lands for Thurman. Pac throws several shots as Thurman covers up. Pac lands a left upstairs. Left hook lands for Thurman, Pac lands a left to the body. Not much body punching from Pacquiao in this fight. Thurman misses on a right hook. Double right hand lead lands for Thurman just before the bell. Thurman 10-9, 75-76.

Round 9: Thurman measures with a jab again and looks to land a right hook that just misses. Thurman comes forward with a straight right that lands on Pac’s guard. Right hook from Thurman lands on Pac’s glove. Right hook lands for Thurman this time. Thurman misses on a jab and then looks to keep this fight at arms reach for the moment. Right hand counter lands well for Thurman. Thurman lands a jab. Pav misses on a counter right. Pac has lost his mojo these last few rounds. Right lands to body for Thurman, then a left downstairs. Pac throws two leffts that don’t make much contact. Left hook lands for Thurman as he steps forward, and Pac might have some blood in his mouth. Thurman lands some shots and Pac wants to come back with punches right away! I like Thurman in this round. Thurman 10-9.

Round 10: Thurman comes out with a number of punches to make an impression on Pacquiao to open the round. Thurman trhwos a couple more as Pac lays back. Double right hand backs Pac up some more. Pacquiao lands a right hand over the top. Right hand lands for Thurman but Pac comes back and gets in a left hand. Thurman turns southpaw again and Pac strafes him on the ropes. Both fighter clash heads and Thurman is reeling! Thurman times a right uppercut and Pac is taking advantage. Not Thurman lands a clean left hook upstairs! Thurman throws a right hand, a left hook and misses. Pacquiao 10-9, 95-94.

Round 11: Replay shows it was a body shot that hurt Thurman in the last round. Thurman comes out and lands a couple of quick shots. Pacquiao throws some shots that fall short. Right hand lead lands for Pacquiao. Left to the body hurt Thurman again! Thurman is still hurt to the body from the last round. Thurman comes forward and throws a couple hooks with Pac on the ropes. Right hand counter falls short for Thurman. Now hard right hand from Thurman knocks Pac back to the ropes! Pac is able to come right back and land a clean right hand. This fight has a lot of good back-and-forth action! Right hand lead lands for Thurman, Pac gets in a left. Close round but I’m going to edge this round to Pac as he hurt Thurman again to the body. Pacquiao 10-9.

Round 12: Thurman comes out on the attack but doesn’t land anything effective. Thurman pushes Pac back again to the ropes. Pac lands a jab and then steps to the side with a left hand lead. Thurman throws a shot and misses. Pac lands a left hand and then another clean one upstairs at center ring! Right hook lands for Pac, Thurman returns with several shots and Pacquiao wants to match fire with fire. Jab lands for Pacquiao. Thurman misses on his Jab. Thurman tries to time a right hook but can’t land it clean. Right hand lead lands clean for Thurman this time. Thurman misses on a big right hand. Really good fight! Pacquiao 10-9. I’ve got it scored for the legend himself, 115-112.

YORDENIS UGAS vs OMAR FIGUEROA JR.

Round 1: Figueroa walks straight in and the fighters start trading right away. Figueroa throws a couple throw-away jabs before trying to bury his head in Ugas’ chest. Looping right hand lands for Ugas. Figueroa misses on a left hand. Double jab lands well for Ugas. Hard uppercut lands clean for Ugas. Figueroa tries to come back with some punches to the body. Hard right hand from Ugas makes Figueroa stumble back into the ropes and it’s ruled a knockdown! Two hard uppercuts to the body land for Ugas. Another huge right hand lands for Ugas! Ugas 10-8.

Round 2: Figueroa has a visible mark on the left side of his face. Both fighters meet at center ring and wrestle with one another. Counter right hand lands again for Ugas as Figueroa steps in. Figueroa whacks a right hand as the fighters get ties up at center ring. Uppercut from Ugas just misses Figueroa’s chin. Hard right to the body lands for Ugas. Figueroa lands a short left hook upstairs himself. Ugas gets warned again for holding on the inside. Hard left hook lands to the body for Ugas, then another moments later. Ugas presses Figueroa to the ropes and strafe him with a couple of shots to the body that looked a little low to me. Another body shot lands for Ugas. Ugas 10-9, 20-17.

Round 3: Right uppercut to the body makes good contact for Ugas. Figueroa is smothering himself too much to land much of anything effectively. Both fighters continue to stand in the phone booth and exchange punches. Ugas pushes back and lands a left hook to the body. Ugas misses on a big left hook with Figueroa on the ropes. Ugas goes back down to the body with a couple of hooks and makes good contact. ANother uppercut comes from Ugas and Figueroa gets in a left hook to the body. Hard left hook lands upstairs for Ugas twice before the bell rings! Ugas 10-9.

Round 4: Ugas comes out with a quick jab upstairs. Figueroa tries to throw a few jabs as he moves his head and then puts himself right back in Ugas’ chest. Ugas pushes Figueroa back to the ropes but can’t land much of anything. Figueroa tries to sneak in body shots as he’s pressed up against Ugas but Ugas fires back two much harder ones. I just don’t see Figueroa landing many effective punches. Referee calls a timeout to look at a cut on the top of Figueroa’s head from an accidental head clash. Time is back in and Figueroa tries to get right back to work at close range but takes a couple of clean shots from Ugas in return. Left hook lands to the body well for Ugas, who then follows it up with a series of punches. Right hand to the body makes contact for Ugas. Ugas 10-9, 40-35.

Round 5: Figueroa falls short on a straight left hand. Referee calls a timeout to take a point from Ugas for excessive holding. Two hooks to the body make contact for Ugas. Ugas presses Figueroa to the ropes and lands a body shot. Now the referee warns Figueroa for holding on the inside. This is an ugly fight. Right uppercut lands to the body for Ugas. Right hand lead lands twice for Ugas at center ring. Right hand lands to the body again for Ugas, followed by a left hook upstairs. Ugas 9-9 with the point deduction.

Round 6: Both fighters trade jabs to open the round. Now they find themselves back in close and Figueroa tries a right hook that gets blocked by Ugas. Two body shots lands for Ugas, who pushes Figueroa back to the ropes again. More sloppy action as the fighters lean on each other and occasionally throw a slapping punch. Combination lands for Ugas as Figueroa tries to roll the punches. More body shots land for Ugas, who has Figueroa in a corner before he unloads some big shots at the bell. Ugas 10-9, 59-53.

Round 7: Jab falls short for Figueroa. Now he steps forward and they end up in a clinch. Figueroa tries to throw a right hand that misses wide. Right hand to the body lands for Figueroa up close this time, though. Uppercut lands clean on Figueroa’s head. Ugas pushes Figueroa back to the ropes and takes a step back before throws a counter left to the body. Two punches don’t land clean for Ugas but he gets in a good right hand just moments later, followed by a hard left to the body. Two more uppercuts to the body land for Ugas, then a right hand upstairs. Now Ugas throws more punches that land well on Figueroa, who is starting to take some real punishment now. Ugas 10-9.

Round 8: Figueroa tries to lead with two punches but they’re only grazing. Ugas misses on a right uppercut but then lands two jabs as he steps forward. Left to the body partially lands for Ugas. Figueroa lands a jab with his back on the ropes. Two more body shots land for Ugas. Ugas pushes Figueroa off of him and throws a couple more downstairs. Left to the body lands really low and the referee immediately calls time to give Figueroa time to recover, but Figueroa hardly takes any. Back to the action and Ugas starts stepping back as Figueroa walks in on him. RIght hand lands upstairs for Ugas, then another! A couple shots land just after the bell and the referee talks to Ugas about it. Ugas 10-9, 79-71.

Round 9: Figueroa comes forward but misses on a shot to the body. Right hand partially lands for Ugas upstairs, who then follows it up with another one. Jab lands for Ugas as Figueroa steps forward. Ugas has Figueroa back on the ropes but the fighters end up in another clinch. Two hard body shots land for Figueroa downstairs. Figueroa throws a few weak punches that Ugas easily defends. More punches come from Ugas who then lands a big right hand upstairs. Ugas 10-9.

Round 10: Both fighters start the round off in a clinch, which is fitting. Uppercut partially lands for Ugas. Figueroa slaps with a couple of punches but takes another uppercut to the body that landed low, but Figueroa hardly complains about it. Ugas pushes Figueroa back and throws a couple of punches before he gets smothered again. Figueroa moves his head from side-to-side but they end up in just another clinch along the ropes anyways. Ugas probes with several shots and then lands a right hand before the bell. Ugas 10-9, 99-89.

Round 11: Figueroa looked completely demoralized between rounds. Both fighters come out and hug each other for almost 20 seconds. Not Ugas sneaks in a right uppercut as a counter. Two more uppercuts come from Ugas who then leans on Figueroa on the ropes. Figueroa tries to throw a short right uppercut of his own. Two body shots come from Ugas, who then puts in up upstairs for good measure. Ugas gets warned again for holding on the inside. Ugas throws a couple of punches and then circles out to his right. Right hand lead lands for Ugas. Ugas 10-9.

Round 12: Ugas’ corner tells him just to box this round out and go home with the win. Ugas comes out on the move and then circles back to center ring. Ugas throws a left to the body and then smothers Figueroa by walking into his chest. Ugas curcles the outside some more and lands a counter left upstairs. Ugas parries a jab from Figueroa and then counters back down to the body. Right uppercut misses for Ugas but he comes right back with a straight right hand that makes contact. Ugas walks Figueroa back to the ropes and lands two more body shots and a gook to the head to end the fight. Ugas 10-9, 119-107.

SERGEY LIPINETS vs JAYAR INSON

Round 1: Inson leads with a jab, then lands a little uppercut as Lipinets leans forward with his gloves up. Inson circles Lipinets and throws two punches that Lipinets blocks. Punch from Lipinets lands low and Inson complains to the referee about it. Inson falls short on a lead left hand. Short right hook lands for Lipinets. Inson gets in another uppercut as Lipinets puts his head over his feet. Right hand lead lands for Lipinets. Inson ties up when Lipinets gets too close. I think Inson edged this round. Inson 10-9.

Round 2: Lipinets misses on a jab to the body. Inson does an awkward twirl and ends up with his back to Lipinets for a second. Short hook partially lands for Lipinets. MONSTER LEFT HOOK FROM LIPINETS PUTS INSON DOWN HARD! Inson gets up but the referee waves it off almost immediately. Lipinets TKO-2.

LUIS NERY vs JUAN CARLOS PAYANO

Round 1: Both fighters take a godo look at one another at center ring. Half-hearted jab to the body comes from Payano. Nery steps out of range of a Payano left hand, then does it again moments later. Payano misses on two more left hands that can’t find the range. Jab lands to the body for Payano this time, and Nery has barely thrown a punch halfway through the round. Jab lands to the body again for Payano. Payano comes in behind an ineffective flurry with Nery near the corner. Left hand to the body grazes Nery. Nery took this whole round off, studying his opponent. Payano 10-9.

Round 2: Payano comes out using lateral movement before jabbing to the body. Nery throws two hooks in between Payano’s shots but can’t land them clean. Nery misses on a wide left hook. Payano throws a couple of shots to the body and then grabs hold of Nery on the inside. Nery jabs twice upstairs but misses on both shots. One-two comes from Payano as Nery hides behind a high guard. Nery still hasn’t thrown many punches in this round either, but now lands a hook that pushes Payano back. Nery nods at Payano, encouraging him to throw more punches before the bell rings. Payano 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Jab to the body lands for Payano. Both fighters wind up in a messy exchange along the ropes and the referee has to break them. Now Nery tries a jab to the body but it doesn’t land well. Nery walks into a Payano jab and the fighters have to get broken up again. Nery misses on a left hand and then starts working both sides of the body with a series of hooks. Now Nery steps in with a few big left hooks but only makes partial contact with one. Payano lands another jab downstairs just before the bell. Payano 10-9.

Round 4: Nery comes out and actually throws some punches and backs Payano to the ropes. Payano tries to loop in a left hand but can’t find the mark. Nery lands a couple of solid body shots that back Payano off. Payano misses on a jab at center ring. Two more body shots land for Nery at center ring. Hard left to the body lands for Nery. More hard shots land for Nery before he just straight up slams Payano to the canvas. Nery attacks again and has Payano backing up. Good round for Nery. Nery 10-9, 37-39.

Round 5: Both fighters exchange but neither land much. Now they trade again and Nery gets in a good one. Nery steps forward and Payano grabs hold and whacks him with his free hand. Clean counter right lands for Payano. Nery steps right back in and looks to land a big left hand. Short left hook lands for Nery on the inside. Payano lunges forward with a few punches and makes partial contact with one. Nery attacks the body and Payano throws in a couple of his own but he gets forced back by Nery’s bigger power. Nery 10-9.

Round 6: Payano tries to time a left hand but can’t quite land it. Payano misses on another left hand following a reaching jab. Now Payano lands his left hand at the end of a combination. Payano misses on a wild reaching left hand. Hard uppercut lands for Nery on the inside. Payano puts his elbow in Nery’s neck and Nery hits him behind the head. Payano misses on another left hand to the body, but then lands a solid one. Nery just isn’t working consistently enough. Payano 10-9, 58-56.

Round 7: Payano tries to line up a left hand but misses. Now Nery times a counter left hand cleanly. Nery slips several shots from Payano and steps out of range of the follow up attack. Hard hooks lands for Nery that get Payano’s attention. Payano might’ve been stunned a little by those shots. Hard counter right hook lands clean for Nery again and Payano throws Nery into the ropes, forcing a warning from the referee for the dirty tactics. Nery steps in and lands several hard hooks. Nery 10-9.

Round 8: Nery comes out stalking Payano and Payano misses on a long left hand. Payano tries to attack the body himself to fight Nery off of him. Payano throws a few probing jabs but only draws out Nery’s attack that forces him to retreat, then grab hold. Nery lands a good one-two but Payano lands a clean counter in return. Payano steps back and has a bloody nose now but he’s starting to wilt under Nery’s pressure. Payano throws some hard shots as he knows he has to earn his respect but Nery is getting the better of the exchanges. Nery 10-9, 76-76.

Round 9: Referee rules that the cut on Payano’s nose was the result of an accidental head clash. Payano tries to throw a jab to the body but can’t land it well. Now Payano makes better contact with his left hand this time. Nery presses forward and gets Payano in the corner but can’t keep him there. Two hard body shots land for Nery at center ring. Nery lands a left to the body during a three-punch combination. Nery has Payano on the ropes again and a big shot to the body on the inside puts Payano down! Payano tries to get up but he’s in terrible pain from the body shot he took, he lays right back down on the canvas. Nery KO-9.


Tonight at 9 pm ET on pay-per-view, with prelims beginning at 7 pm ET on FOX, we’ve got a big night of action from Las Vegas, headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title in the main event.

The 40-year-old Pacquiao and the 30-year-old Thurman both come in with question marks, and it’s one of the more intriguing big time fights in recent memory on paper. The PPV show will also feature Yordenis Ugas vs Omar Figueroa Jr, Sergey Lipinets vs Jayar Inson, and Luis Nery vs Juan Carlos Payano, while the FOX prelims will see Caleb Plant vs Mike Lee and Efe Ajagba vs Ali Eren Demirezen.
