The positive test result is believed to have come back on July 17. A knowledgeable source says that it was reported to the Whyte camp (including promoter Matchroom Boxing) and the British Boxing Board of Control by UKAD prior to Whyte-Rivas. However, the BBBC allowed the fight to proceed as scheduled.
If that's true they are scum. The same weekend a Boxer died in the ring they let a potentially enhanced Whyte get in the ring without informing his opponent, robbing Rivas of the ability to make an informed choice....that's assault in my opinion and a black mark on British Boxing, UKAD, Matchroom, Hearn, and Whyte. Obviously I'm going to withhold full judgment until more comes to light, but this is not a good look for anyone involved (maybe whatever the test was looking for was low enough that they suspected no performance enhancement or a false positive if there was some limit, though it still doesn't excuse them not informing Rivas). All I'll say is once a drug cheat always a drug cheat. Bans need to start at 3-5 years for most substances as there is no place for it in a "sport" that places such a high physical, at times lethal, toll on it's athletes.
