Thursday, Aug. 1
UFC Fight Pass, 8:30 pm ET, Ievgen Khytrov vs Gabriel Pham, Eric Walker vs Jose Antonio Abreu, Ivan Golub vs TBA. Lou DiBella’s Broadway Boxing is back on Thursday, and the main event here is pretty good for this level show. Khytrov is a former prospect, twice-beaten but a decent fighter, and Pham is coming off of a good win on June 20 against Jaba Khositashvili. Walker, like Khytrov, fought on “The Contender” in 2018. Golub will again be staying busy — I know he lost a close one to Jamontay Clark a couple years ago, but he’s 30 and just killing time since then. BLH will have live coverage.
Friday, Aug. 2
DAZN, 2:00 pm ET, Anthony Fowler vs Brian Rose, Lewis Ritson vs Joe Hughes. Fowler looks to bounce back from his loss to Scott Fitzgerald, who was originally supposed to face Brian Rose on July 6, but that whole card got scrapped. Fowler-Rose was the sub-in fight that evening and got the rescheduling. Ritson-Hughes is a solid domestic matchup, too, plus there will be plenty more fights, Martin Bakole and Jack Cullen and Sean McGoldrick all in action. BLH will have live coverage.
UFC Fight Pass, 10:00 pm ET, Eva Wahlstrom vs Ronica Jeffrey. Wahlstrom defends her WBC 130-pound title in this one after losing a title fight at 135 to Katie Taylor in December. Jeffrey is a 36-year-old New Yorker getting her first world title shot in Las Vegas. This is at the Thomas & Mack Center, which seems wild to me, but it’s not my money. BLH will have live coverage.
Saturday, Aug. 3
ESPN+, 3:00 pm ET, Michael Conlan vs Diego Alberto Ruiz, Chris Jenkins vs Paddy Gallagher, Luke Keeler vs Luis Arias. Conlan was supposed to “get revenge” on Vladimir Nikitin in Belfast on this date, but Nikitin got hurt, so we’ve got Ruiz instead. In all candor, while Ruiz doesn’t have much on his record, he might actually be better than Nikitin. He also might not be. Chris Jenkins and Paddy Gallagher will fight for the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles, too, Luke Keeler faces Luis Arias, and more. BLH will have live coverage.
FOX, 8:00 pm ET, Adam Kownacki vs Chris Arreola, Andre Berto vs Miguel Cruz, Marcus Browne vs Jean Pascal. Kownacki-Arreola is going to be a blast, I suspect — neither guy comes to work by the hour, both guys have early power, these big boys are going to roughhouse. Berto looks to stay, uh, relevant against Cruz, who was blown out in an April 2018 step-up against Josesito Lopez. Browne is on an island with PBC at 175 and this is about as good a fight as he was going to get right now, sadly enough. Pascal is washed, but still about top 15. That doesn’t make this a good idea, but boxing is weird that way. BLH will have live coverage.
