Michael Hunter-Sergey Kuzmin set for September

Hunter is undefeated as a heavyweight and has knocked out his last four opponents

Eddie Hearn brings word of a solid heavyweight scrap coming to DAZN later this year.

From where I’m sitting, odds are that the “full card” he’s referring to is the planned September 14th event that already features Devin Haney vs. Zaur Abdullaev and Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev.

This, meanwhile, is an interesting matchup. Hunter (17-1, 12 KO), a U.S. Olympian who formerly competed at cruiserweight before a loss to Oleksandr Usyk, has found surprising success as a seemingly undersized heavyweight, knocking out his last four opponents. Most notably, he handed prospect Martin Bakole his first pro defeat last October, finished the much larger Alexander Ustinov less than two months later, and most recently stopped notoriously durable UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado in May.

Kuzmin (15-0, 11 KO) has beaten the standard assortment of Heavyweight gatekeepers and journeymen, including Rodney Hernandez and Joey Dawejko, but has yet to score a standout victory besides being one of many to finish David Price. The 32-year-old was a two-time medalist at the European championships as an amateur.
