Despite the loss of Canelo, it looks as though DAZN will still have something to offer on September 14th. In an interview during this past Saturday’s Jose Ramirez-Maurice Hooker card, Eddie Hearn claimed that it “looks like” Devin Haney’s WBC final eliminator against Zaur Abdullaev will take place in Las Vegas on that date. He also stated that an announcement would come “early next week.”

Next week is now this week, so keep an eye out.

The original plan was for the two to duke it out on Friday the 13th as a prelude to Canelo’s fight, but needless to say, the situation has changed. Still a great fight, though; Haney (22-0, 14 KO) looks the goods and Abdullaev (11-0, 7 KO) figures to be his stiffest test yet.

Of course, this wouldn’t be filling Canelo’s shoes on its own; in addition to Daniel Roman’s mandatory super bantamweight title defense against Murodjon Akhmadaliev, Hearn has stated that he wants to put Oleksandr Usyk and Gennadiy Golovkin on the card. Usyk-Takam, Roman-Akhmadaliev, Haney-Abdullaev, and Golovkin-whoever could certainly make for a fun little Saturday evening.
