Kovalev’s trainer probably should’ve left that mouth guard in for everyone’s protection.
WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (33-3-1, 28 KOs) is once again back in the news for getting into an altercation with a woman. This time Yahoo Sports reports (via The Athletic) that Kovalev has been accused of forcibly kissing a female passenger on a plane, also throwing cash at her, as he sat on a flight set to depart from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Los Angeles on July 15th.
The captain of the flight ordered that Kovalev be removed from the aircraft before it departed because the women felt “uncomfortable and not safe” due to Kovalev’s inappropriate behavior. The Broward County Sheriff’s office stated, however, that Kovalev was neither arrested for the incident nor facing criminal charges.
This news, of course, comes as Kovalev continues to deal with a pending legal matter stemming from another situation from last year where Kovalev was accused of punching a woman in the face after he had allegedly followed back to her cabin in Big Bear, after she had rejected his sexual advances at a party. Kovalev pleaded not guilty in that case but is facing up to four years in prison.
