The two have been on a collision course for a while, most recently winning separate bouts on August 2nd in Liverpool. Davies (19-1, 13 KO) avenged his sole career loss to Michal Syrowatka to kick off a four-fight streak that’s seen him win and defend the British title with victories over Glenn Foot and Joe Hughes. Ritson (19-1, 12 KO) is 2-0 since an upset loss to Francisco Patera snapped his eight-fight knockout streak and was supposed to fight Hughes on that Liverpool card before the Malmesbury man injured his back.
Davies is in both the WBA and IBF top 10s, meaning this could have title implications in the near future, especially since the WBA only has two champions in the division instead of its preferred four at the moment. Even without major stakes, though, this figures to be a terrific little battle.
