Last Saturday night’s PBC on FOX main event between heavyweights Adam Kownacki and Chris Arreola raised a few eyebrows when it was first announced. Could Kownacki, an unproven main eventer, and the faded Arreola really deliver?

It looks like they did, as the three-fight FOX broadcast averaged 1.301 million viewers overall, with the main event averaging 1.727 million and peaking at 1.769 million.

It’s further proof that the heavyweights just plain naturally draw more interest from a wider audience. Obviously bigger names at lighter weights can and have do better numbers than this, but again, Kownacki has never been a headliner at this level before, and it’s been years since Arreola was really relevant. This match had appeal as a slugfest going in, but it wasn’t any huge matchup with a ton of buzz or anything.

If you look at year-over-year for PBC on FOX, this did much better numbers than the Aug. 4, 2018 card headlined by Devon Alexander vs Andre Berto, which did 942,000 viewers.
