As former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua continues to iron out the details for his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr., Joshua takes some time to break down film on what happened during that eventful night at Madison Square Garden back in June.
With Joshua going over the fight film and answering questions about his thought process in real time, he also talks about his experiences leading up to this point, including what mistakes he made that ended up being costly. Joshua ultimately mentions that he thinks the referee’s stoppage came a bit too soon, sort of robbing him of an opportunity to turn things around.
All that being said, and despite Joshua having a contractual rematch clause to face Ruiz again, the negotiations have been at a bit of a standstill over the venue. Joshua obviously wants to bring the rematch back home to the U.K., while Ruiz is pushing to have it held on this side of the Atlantic once more. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Saudi Arabia has been thrown in to the mix as a legitimate option to host the fight. And while that would seem like a bit of a long shot at face value, money talks.
Hopefully we’ll have a confirmation on the rematch details soon. Until then, catch the video above to see if AJ might’ve learned any lessons from their first meeting.
