The 32-year-old Azerbaijani heavyweight enjoyed a remarkable successful career in the unpaid ranks, defeating Olympic medalists like Anthony Joshua, Erislandy Savon, Ivan Dychko, and Roberto Cammarelle. He appears to pack a remarkable punch and his experience in the World Series of Boxing should allow for an expedited rise as a professional.
TBA presently has the debut assignment, though. so he won’t be hopping directly into the deep end.
We’ve seen more than our fair share of standout amateurs fizzle on the big stage, most notably two-time gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez last month, but even though he’s nearer the end of his physical prime than the beginning, Majidov seems like he’s worth your attention. Let’s see what Hearn and co. do with him.
