Tonight starting at 7 pm ET live on DAZN in the US and Sky Sports in the UK, Devin Haney headlines a card from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York, facing Zaur Abdullaev for the interim WBC lightweight title.
Wil Esco will be on the round by round call at 9 pm ET for the main card.
Haney, 20, is aiming to rocket to stardom sooner than later, a young fighter who has aggressively pushed and promoted himself before linking up with Matchroom and DAZN to take everything to the next level. He’s been all that was advertised thus far, but the 25-year-old Abdullaev is looking to break out, too, as he is fighting outside of Russia for the first time as a pro.
In the co-feature, Heather Hardy will face Amanda Serrano for the WBO featherweight title, as well as an interim WBC belt, with the winner — particularly if it’s Serrano — perhaps hoping to line up a bout with undisputed lightweight titleholder Katie Taylor later on. Neither Hardy nor Serrano are afraid to bring it, this should be an entertaining fight.
Heavyweight Michael Hunter takes on unbeaten Sergey Kuzmin in a fight where the winner might get into the top-level mix soon, and the loser will have to reevaluate. And the prelims feature returns for prospects Murodjon Akhmadaliev (who was supposed to fight super bantamweight titleholder Daniel Roman tonight), Daniyar Yeleussinov, and Ray Ford, plus the pro debut of Christian Bermudez.
