Eddie Hearn has that smug grin back on his face for maybe the first time since Anthony Joshua’s disastrous U.S. debut over the summer. That’s because he has what he expects to be a huge blockbuster event on his hands with KSI vs Logan Paul.
Hearn says 700,000 viewers tuned-in to the live-streaming press conference on Youtube, formally announcing the fight, and that the presser now has roughly 10 million viewers in total. Those numbers are enough to make Hearn believe this will likely be the most watched boxing card of the year.
“I think it’s up to 10 million people have watched the press conference now. This fight is probably going to be the most-watched fight of the year.
”It is crazy, but they are at least respecting the code. They’ve turned pro, no head guards, 10 ounce gloves. I don’t think they know what they have let themselves in for on that one.”
The current word is that Hearn plans to showcase legitimate fighters such as Devin Haney and Billy Joe Saunders on the undercard of that fight in an attempt to get some of those casual fans to stick around once the freak show is over. Hearn says even if they manage to keep only 1% of the casual KSI-Logan Paul audience, that would be a win for boxing.
